Brad Binder’s ‘Rolling Burnout’ and Jack Miller’s Near Miss: Highlights from Aragon MotoGP
Brad Binder exclaimed, "I ended up doing a rolling burnout once more!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller remarked that he was "overtaken by Rins." Binder added, "I had devised a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his most successful MotoGP weekend since the season began in Qatar, achieving 4th and 6th place finishes at the Aragon race.
This happened although he veered off the track in both events, with his seventh-place finish occurring on the cleaner part of a messy starting lineup.
During the middle portion of the race, Binder trailed behind newcomer Pedro Acosta. This pursuit turned into a contest for third place when Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with five laps remaining.
However, Acosta remained slightly beyond their grasp.
"Last night, I came up with an excellent strategy to avoid spinning at the start, and just like yesterday, I did a rolling burnout!" Binder said with a smile.
"I navigated through and overtook several competitors. Avoiding errors was tough since the front tire was overheating while following others until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to gain some time when exiting corners since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front overheating. However, this strategy backfired as the left side of the tire wore out completely by the end."
"I gave it my all to overtake Pedro, but I had nothing left to offer from behind!"
"Aside from that, we took several encouraging strides this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective throughout the race."
Jack Miller, who started the race in 15th position, made an impressive start and climbed up to eighth place by the end of the first lap. However, the Australian rider soon faced issues with maintaining rear grip.
After being overtaken by Alex Rins on the final lap and losing ninth place, he was subsequently one of three riders penalized with a 16-second post-race penalty for tyre pressure violations, which resulted in him finishing in 15th position.
"A lengthy race," remarked Miller. "The track conditions varied once more; it has been dirty for most of the weekend, but today it appeared even more slippery."
"I gave it my all. It was challenging to manage the [medium] rear tire, and I experienced a major highside incident while exiting the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. Transitioning from the edge to the center of the tire presented several challenges, but I managed to finish successfully."
"There were no errors during the race, but I found it difficult to keep up with the guys ahead. We will continue to work hard."
"Thrilled to finish in the top ten, but Rins passed me on the back straight during the final lap. I was trying my hardest to be accurate, but I didn't get a good acceleration, allowing him to overtake me."
“We’ll return to Misano.”
A new wild-card entry for test rider Pol Espargaro will increase KTM's lineup to five riders this weekend.
Team manager Francesco Guidotti mentioned that they are heading to Misano, anticipating both the upcoming test and Pol’s wildcard entry, which will be beneficial for them moving forward.
The initial Misano MotoGP race will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, as Acosta currently occupies the fifth position in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider at the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place and just three points behind Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo.
