Brad Binder Battles Burnout, Jack Miller Nipped by Rins in Aragon’s High-Stakes MotoGP Showdown
Brad Binder: "I ended up doing a rolling burnout again!" Jack Miller: "Rins managed to get past me"
Brad Binder: "I had a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning off at the start…"
Brad Binder had his best MotoGP performance since the season opener in Qatar, achieving 4th and 6th place finishes at the Aragon race weekend.
This occurred even though he veered off track in both races, with his seventh-place finish coming from the cleaner part of a grid that was otherwise dirty.
During the middle portion of the race, Binder was trailing behind newcomer Pedro Acosta. This pursuit turned into a contest for third place when Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta stayed slightly beyond reach.
“I came up with an excellent strategy last night to avoid losing traction at the start, and I managed to do another rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!” Binder said with a smile.
"I was able to navigate through and overtake several riders. It was challenging to avoid errors since the front tire was overheating while trailing others until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to gain speed while exiting corners since my front tire was overheating and I couldn't enter them quickly. However, this strategy backfired as the left side of my tire was completely worn out by the end."
"I did everything I could to overtake Pedro, but I had no more power from behind!"
“We took some positive strides this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective over the course of the race.”
Teammate Jack Miller had a strong start, advancing from 15th place on the grid to 8th by the conclusion of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly encountered issues with rear grip.
After missing out on ninth place to Alex Rins during the final lap, he was subsequently one of three riders to incur a 16-second post-race penalty for tyre pressure, which relegated him to 15th position.
"It was quite a lengthy race," Miller remarked. "The track conditions varied once more; it had been dirty for most of the weekend, but today it felt more slippery."
"I gave it my all. It was tough managing the [medium] rear tire and I experienced a significant highside incident while exiting the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. There were several challenges moving from the outer part to the center of the tire… but I managed to finish successfully."
"There were no errors during the race, but I had difficulty keeping up with the guys ahead of me. We will continue to give our best effort."
"Thrilled to secure a top ten finish, but Rins managed to edge me out on the back straight during the final lap. I was striving for precision, but a poor drive allowed him to overtake me down the back stretch."
“We’ll return to Misano.”
KTM will have five riders participating this weekend, as test rider Pol Espargaro joins as a wild-card entry.
"Head to Misano now, keeping in mind the upcoming test and Pol's wildcard, which will be beneficial for us moving forward," stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP race will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, with Acosta currently positioned fifth in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider at the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place and just three points behind Fabio Quartararo of Monster Yamaha.
