Baidu-Backed Jiyue Aims for Redemption in Premium EV Market with Second Model Launch: A Turnaround Bet on Self-Driving Technology
Jiyue, supported by Baidu, is striving to gain a foothold in China's high-end electric vehicle market with the launch of its second model. The company is betting on autonomous driving technology to secure a position among the leading manufacturers, following disappointing sales of its debut model.
The company started accepting advance orders on Wednesday night. They will reveal specifics about the sedan and its features during a release event on September 10.
"Jiyue is banking on its second manufactured vehicle to revive its sales," commented Eric Han, a top-level executive at Suolei, a consulting company based in Shanghai. "Considering the cutting-edge technologies and backing from tech giant Baidu, the company's performance must step up, especially in light of the underwhelming sales of the Jiyue 01."
Jiyue doesn't release information about their deliveries. They are not featured in the top 10 list of China's leading electric vehicle manufacturers based on monthly sales, according to the China Passenger Car Association.
