Baidu-Backed Jiyue Aims for Redemption in China’s Premium EV Market with Second Model and Self-Driving Tech
Jiyue, supported by Baidu, is striving for a foothold in China's high-end electric vehicle market with the introduction of its second model. The company is counting on its autonomous driving technology to secure a position among leading manufacturers, following disappointing sales of its inaugural model.
Advance sales kicked off on Wednesday night. The firm will reveal specifics about the sedan and its features at an unveiling event on September 10.
"Jiyue is wagering on its upcoming second model to enhance its sales," stated Eric Han, a high-ranking executive at Suolei, a consulting company based in Shanghai. "Considering the state-of-the-art technologies and backing from tech giant Baidu, it's expected that the company's performance will get better, especially in light of the underwhelming sales figures for the Jiyue 01."
Jiyue doesn't release their shipping information. They are not included in the China Passenger Car Association's monthly sales rankings of the top 10 electric vehicle manufacturers in China.
