Bagnaia Endorses Martin’s Move to Aprilia, Predicts Stronger Form Ahead
Francesco Bagnaia thinks Jorge Martin is an ideal fit for the Aprilia and anticipates that Martin will show even more strength this season.
Following the decision to select Marc Marquez over him for the coveted 2025 factory Ducati position, MotoGP frontrunner Jorge Martin is set to join Aprilia.
Martin, who secured the second position behind Francesco Bagnaia in the races at Assen the previous weekend, remains 10 points ahead of the Italian as they move towards Sachsenring this weekend, a venue where he achieved victory in both events in 2023.
Regardless of how the current season unfolds or his future with Aprilia, Martin is expected to maintain his position as a championship hopeful.
Following his rejection by Ducati, Bagnaia is convinced that Martin will display a more formidable version of himself for the rest of 2024.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Bagnaia expressed, “In my opinion, Jorge is an incredibly talented rider. His pace and where he chooses to brake are remarkable.”
"Next season, he's expected to perform well with Aprilia, as his riding technique is a great match for the Aprilia motorcycle. However, I believe he'll show even more impressive form this season."
Bagnaia's victory at Assen signified his third consecutive win at the Dutch track.
The competitiveness in MotoGP has reached unprecedented levels, which only serves to highlight the significance of his win. Yet, the Italian racer anticipates facing substantial hurdles as the season progresses into its latter half.
Bagnaia stated: "Currently, I believe it's the peak level the championship has ever reached."
"It's amazing to see our speed across all circuits. We're consistently six or seven tenths quicker at every location. The current level of competition is outstanding. I really enjoy it."
Martin is in excellent condition. Marc is performing well, and it remains to be seen how Acosta, Vinales, and several other riders will fare in this latter half of the season, now that contract obligations are settled, allowing them to concentrate solely on their racing.
