Bagnaia Dominates Dutch MotoGP with Historic Third Assen Victory: A Weekend of Perfection
Francesco Bagnaia Reflects on Third Victory at Assen: "My Greatest MotoGP Achievement"
Francesco Bagnaia capped off an outstanding weekend at the Dutch MotoGP with a performance he considers among his finest in the series.
Francesco Bagnaia extended his remarkable weekend at the Dutch MotoGP with an outstanding display in the grand prix, marking one of his finest performances to date.
Throughout the entire sprint, Bagnaia was at the forefront, a performance he replicated in the 26-lap grand prix by keeping Jorge Martin in check.
Bagnaia's victory has allowed him to secure an additional five points over Martin, closing the gap to just 10 points shy of the championship leader.
Discussing the significance of his victory at Assen, Bagnaia mentioned, "When it comes to outcomes, I believe this is the greatest achievement in my MotoGP career."
"I was at the forefront of every session, a rarity in itself. Securing victory in such a manner was truly astonishing."
"In 2018, during the Moto2 season, I experienced a similar situation. I'd like to express my immense pride in my team and acknowledge the outstanding work we accomplished throughout the weekend."
"The motorcycle performed incredibly well, and we made minor adjustments to enhance its handling in quick turns, as initially, I found myself at a disadvantage against the competition at the outset of the event.
"Once we made the necessary adjustments, everything turned out perfectly. Achieving victory today felt amazing."
From the get-go on Friday, it was widely anticipated that Bagnaia would secure a victory, having led in every session aside from the warm-up.
Naturally, there was a significant amount of pressure because anything less than a victory would not have been considered successful.
In response to whether he believed he was significantly outperforming his rivals this weekend, Bagnaia stated, "This is an incredibly wonderful period. Moreover, during the latter half of 2021, midway through 2022, and the previous season, there were numerous occasions when I experienced an exceptional connection with the motorcycle.
"Currently, I am fully aware of our capabilities and believe that with proper effort, we can consistently contend for victories."
"Experiencing weekends filled with races like these really fuels my drive. There's a unique pressure that comes when you enter a race with everyone expecting you to win due to your performance throughout the weekend – in such scenarios, finishing second feels more like a defeat."
"The intensity was heightened, but it didn't bother me; I relished every moment. This circuit holds a special place in my heart, along with the thrill of speed. Personally, it wasn't an issue; I genuinely took pleasure in it."
