**”Aragon MotoGP Win Highlights Marc Marquez’s Resilience, But Championship Hopes Remain Distant”**
Marc Marquez's championship hopes remain subdued even after his win at the Aragon MotoGP.
Marc Marquez, an eight-time World Champion, clinched a win at the Aragon MotoGP, narrowing his championship points gap to 70. Despite this achievement, he believes he remains too distant in the standings to be viewed as a title contender.
Besides trailing Jorge Martin by 70 points, Marquez is also 47 points short of catching up to Francesco Bagnaia, who continues to be the leading rider in 2024 with seven Grand Prix wins and three Sprint race victories.
During the post-race press conference in Aragon, Marquez acknowledged the gap in the championship standings, stating, "No, we are far. We keep losing more and more points. We are too far behind."
"It's not just a single rider; there are actually two riders who show more consistency than we do."
"One weekend won't drastically alter our lives. It can certainly improve things, but it won't be a game-changer. We are too far behind to contend for the championship this year."
“However, let's aim to secure a spot in the top three. That’s a feasible objective. There are still many points up for grabs and various events that could unfold, especially considering the unpredictable weather conditions in Asia, such as storms and rain.”
"However, we continue to have fun, which is what matters most to me, and we will strive to maintain our efforts and compete with the leading competitors."
Highlighting the importance of maintaining consistency to compete for the championship, Marquez mentioned the atypical circumstances of the Aragon round.
"This weekend has been fantastic, and the atmosphere has been incredible," he remarked. "However, we need to stay grounded because the circumstances were quite unique. Personally, I think the Red Bull Ring Grand Prix was more significant for me as I felt really good and was performing at a level very close to the top competitors."
"The triumph holds immense value here, and our next goal is to achieve consistency. We need to learn from each race, though there will inevitably be some weekends where we'll face greater challenges. Consistency will be crucial moving forward."
Marquez highlighted Enea Bastianini's situation, noting that despite being considered a serious contender for the championship following his double victory at the British Grand Prix, Bastianini managed to finish only in fifth place in Aragon after starting from 14th position in the qualifiers.
Marquez stated, "Our goal is to replicate this in the future. We can have quick performances on certain weekends, like Enea Bastianini did in Silverstone. However, what I really want to focus on is achieving consistency, which is the hardest aspect to master."
Jorge Martin, who holds a 23-point lead in the championship following the Aragon race, somewhat concurred with Marquez.
"The current championship leader mentioned that Marc is quite distant in the standings, but if he begins to win every race weekend, he could become a competitor for the title."
"Just two races back, Enea Bastianini was contending for the championship. He then fell out of the race, but now Marc is in the spotlight. After his strong performances in Austria and here, it's clear he's one of the top riders and definitely a contender for the title."
