Alex Rins to Miss German MotoGP Due to Injury; Remy Gardner Steps Up as Replacement
Alex Rins unlikely to participate in the upcoming German MotoGP, with Remy Gardner stepping in as his replacement
Following a major accident in Assen, Alex Rins is poised to be absent from this weekend’s German MotoGP event.
Alex Rins is likely to be absent from the German MotoGP due to a severe highside crash during the grand prix at Assen.
Rins sustained a pair of breaks in his right hand following an accident on the first lap, subsequently heading to Madrid to undergo surgical treatment.
The Yamaha competitor was scheduled for the removal of a pin from his right leg, a procedure stemming from an injury incurred at Mugello the previous season. However, this was expedited due to urgent surgery that was conducted on Monday.
According to Motorsport.com, Remy Gardner is poised to take over for Rins, who appears likely to remain with Yamaha into 2025, though official confirmation is still pending.
The WorldSBK competitor is part of the GRT Yamaha team and has delivered strong performances throughout a significant portion of the 2024 season to date.
Yamaha has not officially announced if Rins will be absent this weekend, but it is anticipated to be a mere formality.
If Gardner steps in for Rins, it will mark his debut in MotoGP since his challenging season with Tech 3 KTM in 2022.
Motorsport.com has also indicated that Gardner is expected to take Rins' place this weekend.
