Alex Rins Out for German MotoGP After Assen Crash, Remy Gardner to Step In
Alex Rins expected to be absent from German MotoGP, Remy Gardner stepping in
After a significant accident in Assen, it appears that Alex Rins will not participate in this weekend's German MotoGP.
It appears that Alex Rins will likely be absent from the German MotoGP after experiencing a severe highside crash during the grand prix in Assen.
During the crash on the first lap, Rins sustained two broken bones in his right hand and then traveled to Madrid for an operation.
The Yamaha motorcyclist had plans to get a pin taken out of his right leg, which he had fractured during last season's Mugello event. However, this procedure was expedited because he needed urgent surgery on Monday.
According to Motorsport.com, Rins is expected to remain with Yamaha in 2025, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. In the meantime, Remy Gardner will take his place.
The current WorldSBK competitor, who is part of the GRT Yamaha team, has shown remarkable performance throughout most of the 2024 season.
Yamaha has not officially announced if Rins will be absent this weekend, but it is anticipated to be a mere formality.
If Gardner substitutes for Rins, it would mark his return to MotoGP following a challenging 2022 season with Tech 3 KTM.
According to Motorsport.com, it is probable that Gardner will take Rins' place for the upcoming weekend.
