**Alex Marquez Denies Intentional Collision with Francesco Bagnaia: “Not in My DNA”**
Alex Marquez refutes allegations: “I would never intentionally collide with another rider”
Alex Marquez denies claims that he 'intentionally' made contact with Francesco Bagnaia, stating that such behavior is 'not in my nature and not in the nature of this sport.'
Alex Marquez has issued a response after coming across certain comments following Sunday's Aragon MotoGP incident involving Francesco Bagnaia.
The duo were caught in a serious crash as Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini racer for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that no additional measures were necessary because they determined that neither rider was chiefly at fault.
However, Marquez appears displeased with remarks from Bagnaia implying that the Gresini racer maintained his throttle position instead of steering clear to prevent a collision.
"When I got into the next turn, which was turn 13, I could hear his engine accelerating. He was increasing the throttle. It was clear he was aiming to make contact," Bagnaia explained to MotoGP.com.
"I was interested in examining that data… He maintained 60 percent throttle, 40 percent throttle open right up until the point of the crash. This behavior seems quite unusual for a rider, in my opinion."
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
"Upon reviewing certain remarks, I feel it necessary to clarify the following points:"
"I would never intentionally collide with another rider, and I refuse to accept any accusations of doing so. Such behavior is against my principles and the values of this sport."
"The key takeaway for me is the discussion I had with Pecco yesterday, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is resolved."
"Now it's time for me to take a break and let my body recuperate so I can be in top shape for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia are lucky to have escaped major injuries and are set to return to racing at Misano this weekend.
Marc Marquez, who is Alex's brother and team-mate, clinched victory in the Aragon race. However, Jorge Martin secured a second-place finish, which has extended his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
