Evaluating the 2025 F1 Team Pairings: A Ranking from Least to Most Impressive

As the driver line-ups for the 2025 Formula 1 season are finalized, we assess which team boasts the strongest duo and which team has the weakest combination on the grid.

The 2025 Formula 1 season has introduced a fresh batch of drivers, featuring five newcomers: Isack Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Gabriel Bortoleto, Oliver Bearman, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

In other news, Liam Lawson is kicking off his inaugural complete season following several interim appearances with RB during the previous season. Although McLaren and Aston Martin have kept their line-ups the same, there have been major changes among the other teams on the grid.

Below is our list of the 2025 Formula 1 team driver duos, ordered from the least powerful to the most formidable.

10) Racing Bulls

The 2025 Formula 1 lineup is so competitive that Racing Bulls is considered to have the least strong driver duo. Yuki Tsunoda continues with the team after not being selected to move up to Red Bull.

Since his challenging first year in 2021, Tsunoda has shown notable improvement. However, the Racing Bulls team struggles to rank higher due to the strong competition from drivers in other mid-tier teams. Tsunoda is paired with Isack Hadjar, who joins the team as the second-place finisher in the 2024 Formula 2 championship.

9) Alpine

The Alpine team has experienced a setback following Esteban Ocon's exit. In his place, Jack Doohan has been promoted from his previous position as a reserve and simulator driver, stepping up to the main team in 2024.

Questions are being raised about Doohan's capabilities as rumors persist about Alpine's potential interest in Franco Colapinto. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly remains a formidable competitor on the other side of the garage.

In the second half of 2024, Gasly stood out prominently, significantly contributing to Alpine securing sixth place in the constructors' championship.

Sauber has completely revamped its driver roster, with Nico Hulkenberg at the forefront as they prepare for Audi's entry into Formula 1 in 2026. Hulkenberg's return to F1 has been remarkable, further boosting his standing in the sport, especially during his tenure with Haas.

In 2024, Gabriel Bortoleto, the winner of the Formula 2 championship, will join forces with him. Bortoleto's selection marks the end of Brazil's extended absence from Formula 1 representation, as he was picked instead of Valtteri Bottas.

Haas has decided to revamp its driver roster entirely by recruiting Ocon from Alpine and elevating Oliver Bearman, following his strong performances during substitute races and Friday sessions in 2024.

Although Gasly scored more points last season, Ocon outperformed him in terms of both qualifying sessions and races when compared directly. Ocon continues to be one of the most underappreciated drivers in the lineup, especially noted for his impressive skills in high-pressure situations and variable weather conditions.

In his three Formula 1 races, Bearman showed he has the speed and determination needed for the sport. The British driver managed to outpace Hulkenberg in qualifying during his two appearances with Haas, despite the German being considered one of the top drivers for single-lap performance.

6) Aston Martin

Following is Aston Martin. Fernando Alonso continues with the team for the third year in a row, joining Lance Stroll.

Assessing Alonso's ability to clinch another world championship is challenging, especially considering who his teammate is. Yet, in a closely contested midfield battle, would you prefer any other driver over the Spaniard?

Stroll's performance remains disappointing, and as long as he remains in Aston Martin's driver roster, the team will not have one of the top duos in the field.

Williams boasts the most formidable duo of drivers in the midfield category. Alex Albon, now in his fourth year with the Grove-based team, is joined by Carlos Sainz, who has transitioned from Ferrari.

It can be argued that Sainz has earned a spot on a team superior to Williams, considering his 2024 performances. On the other hand, Albon's actual skill level came under scrutiny after Colapinto's mid-season appearance.

In general, this duo is quite strong and has the potential to achieve a higher ranking.

4) Mercedes

George Russell takes on the position of team leader at Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton's exit. Russell delivered an impressive performance last season, shining particularly in the qualifying rounds during the second half of the year.

Russell's exceptional pace is on par with that of a world champion, and he is likely to excel as the more seasoned driver for Mercedes. His new partner, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, shows great promise, and it's reasonable to anticipate that he will be fast.

For the Italian teenager who is 18 years old, it's simply a question of when it will happen.

Red Bull

Having Max Verstappen on their roster almost guarantees a spot in the top three of any list. The Dutch driver is undoubtedly the most talented on the circuit, having clinched his fourth straight drivers' championship in 2024.

In contrast to his earlier championship victories, Verstappen encountered significant stress last year due to Red Bull's notable decline in performance during the latter part of the season. This situation allowed Verstappen to showcase his exceptional skills as he outperformed Lando Norris to secure the championship in Las Vegas.

Lawson has recently joined as a new member of the team. Initially, it seemed his advancement was unwarranted, especially when contrasted with Tsunoda. Nevertheless, after only 11 races, Lawson has matched Tsunoda's performance, and Red Bull is hopeful that the New Zealander will continue to improve as he gains more experience in Formula 1.

2) McLaren

Currently holding the title of F1 constructors' champions, McLaren ranks second in this list. The team features a well-matched duo consisting of Norris and Oscar Piastri, both of whom have potential for further development.

Norris possesses the natural quickness and talent to compete with Verstappen this season, yet he must address some of his shortcomings. Meanwhile, Piastri is seen as having the qualities that Norris is missing, such as excellent race strategy and composure during intense moments.

Regrettably for the Australian driver, his performance during the 2024 qualifying sessions, as well as his overall speed, was quite disappointing. However, considering the abilities of both racers, they form a formidable duo.

1) Ferrari

As expected, Ferrari secures first place with their stellar team featuring Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

Without a doubt, Leclerc has the potential to become a world champion. His most impressive performances in 2024 occurred during race days, effectively dispelling the misconception that he is only exceptional during qualifying sessions.

Undoubtedly, the major uncertainty revolves around Hamilton and his performance. Struggling with a challenging Mercedes and facing his last year with the team resulted in a career downturn for Hamilton.

However, if there's any driver who deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's Hamilton.

Jenson Button has shared insights into the shift in mood within the Williams team that is expected to uplift the Formula 1 squad.

Jenson Button now serves as an ambassador for the Formula 1 team he once raced with.

Williams is optimistic about the future after successfully securing the commitment of Carlos Sainz, who is leaving his position as a driver for Ferrari.

Button was asked about the changes that have occurred at Williams since he last drove for them 24 years ago.

In an exclusive conversation with Crash.net, he mentioned that the vibe is reminiscent of the year 2000.

"The atmosphere is enjoyable and thrilling, with a clear focus on the seriousness of racing, yet it maintains a welcoming family vibe."

"When I returned to the team in the role of ambassador, the vibe had changed."

Individuals who had been part of the team for twenty or even thirty years found themselves alongside a wave of fresh talent joining the group. It became essential to establish effective leadership to unite everyone and foster cohesive teamwork.

"There is now a stronger sense of confidence in the team's future direction, which is crucial for collaborative efforts aimed at long-term development."

James Vowles, who previously worked with Mercedes, joining Williams as the team's principal, was a significant achievement for them.

They secured a fresh contract with their top driver, Alex Albon, and later brought Carlos Sainz on board from Ferrari for the 2025 season.

Vowles demonstrated his tough decision-making by dismissing Logan Sargeant, who was not performing well, halfway through the previous season and replacing him with Franco Colapinto in their vehicle.

Colapinto excelled during his few appearances with Williams.

Button mentioned that both Alex and Franco have delivered some impressive performances for Williams.

"It's been invigorating to see a driver get into the car and immediately perform at a competitive level."

"We all hold Alex in high regard, admiring his skill and accomplishments in this sport. It's truly remarkable for a young individual to step in and challenge him."

"You gain knowledge from your teammates regardless of their age or level of experience, as each interaction provides valuable insights."

"Having two competitive drivers who can learn from one another significantly benefits the team’s progress and advancement."

"In terms of points, the team hasn't accumulated as many this season as they initially aimed for. However, their performance in the second half of the season has been impressive, which is a promising sign as they look forward to the 2025 season."

Revitalized Spirit: Jenson Button on Williams’ Transformation and 2025 Prospects

EXCLUSIVE: Jenson Button discusses key transformations at Williams

Jenson Button shares his perspective on the atmosphere at Williams as they gear up for a significant 2025

Jenson Button has described the shift in the environment at Williams that is expected to uplift the Formula 1 team.

Button is currently serving as an ambassador for the Formula 1 team he used to race with.

Williams has a promising future ahead after successfully securing a contract with Carlos Sainz, who is leaving Ferrari.

Button was asked about the differences at Williams since he last drove for them 24 years ago.

He told Crash.net in an exclusive interview that the mood is reminiscent of the year 2000.

"It's enjoyable and thrilling, and while racing is taken seriously, the environment is friendly and family-oriented."

"When I returned to the team in the role of an ambassador, the environment felt different."

Individuals who had been part of the team for twenty to thirty years were joined by a wave of fresh talent. It became necessary to establish effective leadership to unite everyone and foster collaboration.

"At present, there seems to be a stronger faith in the team's trajectory, and this confidence is crucial when collaborating to plan for what's ahead."

Williams scored a significant victory by appointing James Vowles, who previously worked with Mercedes, as their team principal.

Before securing Sainz from Ferrari for the 2025 season, they managed to retain their standout driver, Alex Albon, by offering him a new contract.

Vowles demonstrated his uncompromising nature when he decided to remove Logan Sargeant from the team due to his lackluster performance halfway through last season, replacing him with Franco Colapinto.

In his few appearances with Williams, Colapinto showcased his talent impressively.

Button mentioned that Williams has seen some positive outcomes thanks to the efforts of Alex and Franco.

"It's been invigorating to see a driver get into the car and immediately perform at a competitive level."

"We all hold a great deal of admiration for Alex, recognizing his talent and the accomplishments he has secured in this sport. It's truly remarkable for a young person to step up and challenge him."

No matter the age or experience level of your teammates, there's always something to learn from them and the information they share.

"Having two competitive drivers who can learn from each other is beneficial for advancing the team."

In terms of points, the team didn't accumulate as many as they had aimed for this season. However, their performance improved in the latter stages, which is promising as they look ahead to 2025.

Revving Up for a Comeback: Lewis Hamilton’s Anticipated Resurgence with Ferrari in F1 2025

Published

on

By

Lewis Hamilton projected to experience a "significant comeback" with Ferrari in the 2025 F1 season.

"He may need a few testing sessions to find his footing, but I anticipate a complete revival at Ferrari."

Nigel Mansell, who won the F1 world championship in 1992, is confident that Lewis Hamilton is capable of winning another championship and has expressed his support for Hamilton's complete comeback.

Hamilton is set to have his first race with Ferrari in Formula 1 during the Australian Grand Prix scheduled for March.

The 39-year-old is aiming to regain his past performance levels following an unsatisfactory last year with Mercedes.

Despite securing two wins in 2024, Hamilton frequently found it challenging to match the speed of his teammate, George Russell.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Mansell expressed his support for Hamilton, believing he will return to top form with Ferrari.

Mansell expressed that Lewis's choice to move to Ferrari is incredibly enchanting. He noted that the team is extremely competitive and has the potential to compete for the championship in the upcoming year.

"No matter what others think of Lewis, I believe he is truly exceptional. I've always admired him, even when it seemed like I was the only one. Watching him dominate the Formula 1 world with his remarkable talent has been a source of great pride for me."

Facing Leclerc will be challenging, yet it promises to be beneficial. While some may view Lewis as having a lesser chance, underestimating him would be a significant error. He is likely to astonish many. Although it might require a few tests for him to find his footing, I anticipate a complete revival at Ferrari.

Hamilton has the chance to clinch another F1 championship

Hamilton is aiming to achieve a historic F1 championship victory while racing for Ferrari.

Ferrari last won a title in 2008, claiming the constructors' championship with drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.

The last time they won a drivers' championship was in 2007.

Mansell believes that if Hamilton regains his motivation, he has the potential to win another championship.

He noted that while Charles can certainly challenge him and has weekends where everything goes flawlessly, the key is maintaining that level consistently. Winning individual races is one thing, but consistently performing well enough to secure championships is another matter entirely.

"I'm willing to take a risk and assure you that if Lewis can rekindle his drive, he's capable of winning another championship without much difficulty. In this sport, you can never rule anything out, and the competition next year is expected to be fierce. Ferrari has performed well, and I believe it will be thrilling to watch."

Whispers in Maranello: Riccardo Adami Tipped as Lewis Hamilton’s Key Ally at Ferrari

Published

on

By

New Ferrari Race Engineer for Lewis Hamilton Reportedly Revealed in Italy

The important role of Lewis Hamilton's race engineer has allegedly been appointed.

Italian media have suggested that Ferrari has assigned a new race engineer to Lewis Hamilton.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Riccardo Adami is believed to be the unidentified supporter crucial to Hamilton's ambitions for 2025.

Adami used to be the race engineer communicating with Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz when they were with Ferrari.

A 51-year-old Italian man is set to take on a crucial role in Hamilton's latest venture.

Ferrari has not announced the identity of Hamilton’s race engineer, as team principal Fred Vasseur remained reserved when questioned about it at the conclusion of last season.

However, it appears that Adami will take on this important role. Having previously collaborated with Vettel and Sainz, he is well-experienced in supporting top-tier grand prix victors.

After a remarkable period with Mercedes, Hamilton's departure necessitated finding a new race engineer, as Pete 'Bono' Bonnington will remain with the team.

Hamilton and Bonnington established the most successful collaboration between a driver and a race engineer in the history of Formula 1.

This year, Bonnington is anticipated to serve as the race engineer for Kimi Antonelli, who is taking over Hamilton's position at Mercedes.

Recognizable individuals welcome Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari as he officially became part of the team on January 1, 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting new era in Formula 1 history.

He is attempting to secure an unprecedented eighth championship title. As the most successful driver in Formula 1 history, he is now joining forces with the team that holds the record for the most victories.

Hamilton will encounter two familiar individuals from Brackley when he visits Maranello.

Loic Serra, who used to work as an engineer for Mercedes, is currently playing a significant role in supervising the development of Ferrari's car for the 2025 season

With Enrico Cardile leaving Ferrari to move to Aston Martin, Serra now has more opportunities to develop Ferrari's newest competitor.

Jerome d’Ambrosio has transitioned from working with Mercedes to joining Ferrari.

Significantly, d’Ambrosio, who once filled in for Toto Wolff at a Mercedes grand prix, has now taken on the role of deputy team principal at Ferrari.

The former Formula 1 racer currently leads the driver academy for Ferrari.

Hamilton is undoubtedly familiar with Fred Vasseur, the head of the Ferrari team.

Vasseur played a significant role in mentoring Hamilton as he advanced toward a career in F1, and the two collaborated in 2006.

Carlos Sainz Braces for Challenging Transition to Williams: Eyes Set on 2026 Rule Changes

Published

on

By

Carlos Sainz anticipates a challenging inaugural season with Williams in Formula 1 in 2025. "I can't say how long it will take."

Carlos Sainz has admitted that his debut season with Williams is expected to be challenging as they prioritize the upcoming F1 rules set for 2026.

After a successful last year driving for Ferrari, Sainz is set to move to Williams and will be further back on the grid for the 2025 season.

Carlos Sainz found himself without an opportunity to join either Mercedes or Red Bull, leading him to commit to a long-term contract with the Williams team.

Williams ended up in ninth place in the constructors' championship, falling from their remarkable seventh-place finish in 2023.

Sainz believes that Williams has the potential to become a leading team again in the future, but acknowledges that the 2025 season will probably be challenging for them initially.

During a media briefing concluding the 2024 season, Sainz was questioned about the timeframe for getting back to the front of the grid.

Sainz stated, "I can't answer that question." He explained that it's not possible to foresee the future or determine how long it will take for him and Williams to compete for podium finishes again.

Recently, James mentioned that people should temper their expectations, as the upcoming year will be challenging and educational. He emphasized that this period is crucial for gearing up for the regulatory changes set for 2026, a time when the team is making significant investments and preparations to fully capitalize on the opportunities that will arise.

"I'm committed to assisting the team in returning to its rightful position in the competition. I genuinely believe I should be competing for victories, podium finishes, and top-five spots in Formula 1, and my performance over the past four years as a driver supports this. Williams must also remember that the team deserves to be contending for those top-five and podium positions."

The aim, driven by our shared resolve and vigor, is for Williams and me to soon compete for those spots. I can't predict the exact timeline for this.

Williams is optimistic that Sainz's notable history of elevating teams' standings will persist in the forthcoming seasons.

When Sainz joined McLaren in 2019, it marked the beginning of their comeback after spending several years lagging behind in the competition.

A comparable scenario occurred with Ferrari, as they re-entered the race for the title a year following Sainz's joining the team.

The analytical mindset of the Spaniard is expected to be a valuable benefit for Williams and team principal James Vowles as they aim to start strong in 2026.

Eddie Jordan Questions Lewis Hamilton’s Ability to Outshine Charles Leclerc in Ferrari Qualifying Battle

Published

on

By

Eddie Jordan has expressed skepticism about Lewis Hamilton's ability to compete with Charles Leclerc in a specific aspect. "Charles Leclerc is certainly no pushover. I must say, when it comes to qualifying, it would surprise me."

Eddie Jordan has confessed that he would be "astonished" if Lewis Hamilton manages to outperform Charles Leclerc in qualifying for Ferrari.

This year, Hamilton will be directing his attention towards Ferrari.

The 2024 season was possibly the most challenging of Hamilton's career in Formula 1, especially when it came to qualifying sessions.

George Russell often outperformed, particularly during the Saturday sessions, leaving Hamilton puzzled.

Hamilton holds the record for the most pole positions in the sport, having achieved it 103 times, but he has lately faced challenges in delivering strong performances over a single lap.

At Ferrari, he will compete with Leclerc, who is widely regarded as one of the fastest qualifiers in the field.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Jordan cautioned the audience that Hamilton is likely to face significant challenges when competing against Leclerc in the qualifying rounds.

Jordan commented that once he joins Ferrari, his primary challenge will be to outperform Leclerc.

"Charles Leclerc is certainly not a pushover. Allow me to say that during qualifying, I would be taken aback."

"I'd be taken aback if Lewis manages to keep up with him during the qualifying rounds. However, it's hard to predict. Lewis is quite unpredictable, and it's difficult to anticipate his performance."

Jordan firmly believes that Ferrari will offer Hamilton a genuine opportunity to outperform Leclerc and assures that there will be nothing inappropriate or unfair towards the 39-year-old.

He stated, "However, it should be acknowledged that Ferrari invested an extraordinary sum to bring Lewis on board."

"I believe he will have a completely fair opportunity. I don't expect anything unusual to occur, and we'll simply wait to see the outcome."

Lewis Hamilton’s Bold Leap to Ferrari: A New Chapter in F1 2025

Published

on

By

Lewis Hamilton is thrilled as he anticipates his first season with Ferrari in Formula 1. The racing star eagerly looks forward to the 2025 season.

Lewis Hamilton has communicated for the first time since becoming a driver for Ferrari in Formula 1, expressing his immense excitement for the upcoming season.

Hamilton has confirmed his move to Ferrari, leaving Mercedes to join the team for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Eleven months ago, in February 2024, the shocking news broke that the seven-time world champion had decided to depart from Mercedes.

In just 70 days, Hamilton is set to race for Ferrari for the first time at the Australian Grand Prix, aiming to return the team to its championship-winning form.

As preparations get underway for the upcoming season, with testing scheduled for the following month, Hamilton used his LinkedIn profile to share some news about the forthcoming campaign.

Hamilton expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming year, stating that joining Scuderia Ferrari has given him much to think about.

For those planning their next steps in 2025: welcome the transformation. Whether it's transitioning to a different field, acquiring a new ability, or simply facing fresh challenges, keep in mind that reinventing yourself holds great power. A new opportunity is always just around the corner.

"Cheers to 2025—a year to seize fresh opportunities, maintain our ambition, and move ahead with clear intention. Let's make it unforgettable. Let's go!"

Hamilton Aims to Make a Statement in F1 2025

Even though he has already achieved an unprecedented career in Formula 1, Hamilton is set to demonstrate his capabilities once again in 2025.

Hamilton faced a challenging last year with Mercedes, grappling with difficulties in managing the W14's performance.

Although Hamilton managed to secure victories at both Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps, he was largely overshadowed by his teammate, George Russell.

During the qualifying sessions, Hamilton managed to surpass Russell only on five occasions.

In the 2024 Formula 1 season, it marked only the third occasion in Lewis Hamilton's career where a teammate earned more points than him. This previously occurred in 2011 when Jenson Button outperformed him and again in 2016 when Nico Rosberg achieved the same feat.

Franco Colapinto Poised for F1 Comeback Amid Alpine Speculation, Backed by Industry Insiders

Published

on

By

Franco Colapinto is expected to leave a significant impact in Formula 1 once more amid speculations about a potential move to Alpine. Supporters believe Colapinto could soon be back on the F1 racing scene.

Ex-McLaren technician Marc Priestley has expressed confidence that Franco Colapinto will "leave a lasting impression in Formula 1 in the future," even though he won't be racing in 2025.

Colapinto is expected to be without a permanent position in 2025 after being unable to find a place on the lineup.

The Argentine driver made a strong impression during his brief time with the Williams team, stepping in for Logan Sargeant at the Italian Grand Prix.

Colapinto initially caught the attention of Red Bull and Alpine due to his performance, but several accidents and a significant decline in his racing skills eventually removed him from the running for a race position.

The 21-year-old has been appointed as Williams' designated test and reserve driver for the year 2025. This role means they will fill in for Alex Albon or Carlos Sainz if the situation calls for it.

In an interview with Casino Uden Rofus, Priestley conveyed his belief in Colapinto's ability to make a comeback to Formula 1.

He mentioned that Franco Colapinto always faced slim chances of securing a spot in 2025.

He fulfilled all the requirements set by Williams, not only by achieving respectable results but also by maintaining control of the car during races. However, as the season drew to a close, he began to crash more frequently. This is considered normal for someone in their first season.

"When considering Logan Sargeant, he made a comparable number of errors, yet he wasn't achieving any successful outcomes."

Colapinto's debut has been notably successful, sparking interest from various teams who are now considering him. I am confident that he will leave a significant impact in Formula 1 down the road.

Speculation Grows Around Alpine's Interest in Colapinto

Talk continues to spread about Alpine's potential interest in Colapinto.

Flavio Briatore, who serves as an executive advisor for Alpine, has publicly expressed his admiration for Colapinto, which could possibly undermine their existing driver, Jack Doohan.

Doohan participated in his first Formula 1 race at the final event of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, taking the place of Esteban Ocon.

The Australian driver will be under significant pressure to begin his Formula 1 career on a strong note, considering Briatore's history of making quick and frequently decisive mid-season adjustments.

Bridging the Gap: How Social Intelligence and Missed Opportunities Hindered Nico Hulkenberg’s F1 Journey

Published

on

By

Nico Rosberg suggests that an F1 star has struggled to reach their potential and has damaged relationships along the way. "Additionally, his social skills weren't the strongest, especially when it came to networking with team leaders to secure a favorable position…"

Nico Rosberg, who won the Formula 1 world championship in 2016, has suggested that Nico Hulkenberg's career has been less successful than it could have been partly due to his deficiency in "social intelligence."

Although Hulkenberg is well-regarded, he has yet to secure a podium finish in Formula 1.

The German driver had several chances to achieve this, especially during his time at Force India. However, due to either strategic decisions or driver mistakes, he has yet to make it onto the podium.

Hulkenberg was let go by Renault after the 2019 season, which left him without a regular driving position and instead serving as a reserve and test driver for Racing Point.

In 2023, he eventually came back, and since rejoining Haas, his standing has improved significantly.

Hulkenberg is set to take charge of Audi's initiative, guiding Sauber in the year 2025 as the German company prepares to join Formula 1 the following year.

In an interview with Sky Sports towards the close of 2024, Rosberg shared his thoughts on how a fellow competitor from his own nation had not lived up to expectations in Formula 1.

Rosberg expressed his astonishment that Nico Hulkenberg has never secured a podium finish. He noted that Hulkenberg was an exceptional talent during his rise through Formula 3 and Formula 2, and he occasionally demonstrated remarkable skill in Formula 1.

"Yet, for some reason, he hadn't previously met those expectations, except for this year, when he truly appeared extraordinary, consistently getting the most out of the car."

During the qualifying sessions this year, he has consistently been one of the top performers on the entire grid, and it has been incredible to witness.

"Certainly, there are still uncertainties regarding his race speed and technique at times, but he has performed admirably in those areas this year."

Hulkenberg ‘damaged relationships’ in F1

Although he consistently excelled in the midfield, Hulkenberg, unlike Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, has never been given the opportunity to race in a leading car.

Hulkenberg was negotiating with Ferrari for the 2014 season, but the team chose Kimi Raikkonen instead.

He was considered a candidate to become part of Red Bull's team in 2021, but ultimately, Perez was chosen instead.

"If you demonstrate that you are among the top performers, you'll earn the opportunity to drive the prized car, and he never truly proved that," Rosberg remarked.

"In addition, he struggled with social skills, particularly in terms of understanding social dynamics and collaborating effectively with team leaders to advance his position. Early in his career, he damaged some professional relationships, which is an area where he could have improved."

F1 Shockwaves: Flavio Briatore and Eddie Jordan Criticize Ferrari’s ‘Suicidal’ Hamilton Signing

Published

on

By

Flavio Briatore expresses doubts about Ferrari's decision to bring Lewis Hamilton on board: 'I question if it's a wise move.' Flavio Briatore is among those raising concerns about Ferrari's choice to sign Lewis Hamilton.

Flavio Briatore has expressed doubts, alongside Eddie Jordan, about Ferrari's choice to replace Carlos Sainz with Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

On the night before the previous season began, it was revealed that Hamilton would be making a surprising switch to Ferrari, concluding his lengthy partnership with Mercedes.

In March, Hamilton is set to race for Ferrari for the first time at the Australian Grand Prix as he aims to secure an unprecedented eighth world championship.

Alpine's executive advisor, Briatore, shared his opinion on Ferrari's choice to swap Sainz for Hamilton.

"It will be unusual to witness Lewis driving for Ferrari," Briatore mentioned to sport.de. "Naturally, I respect these kinds of choices, but I also question if it's a logical move. Ferrari already had two excellent drivers in Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz."

"I can't comprehend why this successful duo was separated. It's not my place to make judgments, but if I had held a role of authority at Ferrari, I would not have chosen to bring Lewis on board."

"Essentially, having Lewis race for Ferrari would benefit Formula 1. Since what's advantageous for the sport is also beneficial for me, I see it as a positive move. Additionally, it would likely boost television viewership and ratings. We should wait and observe how he performs with Ferrari; only time will provide the answer."

Carlos Sainz and his teammate Charles Leclerc came very close to winning the 2024 Formula 1 constructors' championship but ultimately fell short.

They ended the season trailing McLaren by 13 points following Lando Norris's victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Ferrari has not won a championship title since 2008, the year they secured the constructors' championship with drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.

Eddie Jordan describes the situation as "suicidal"

Jordan expressed doubts about Ferrari's choice to change their drivers for the 2025 season.

The individual from Ireland described the choice as "suicidal" while looking back on the season.

Jordan expressed that Fred Vasseur had the potential to lead this team to significant achievements. However, he now faces the challenge of uniting the team and reconciling differences, which includes integrating a new member and managing various egos.

"Lewis is an exceptionally kind individual. I doubt there are many people on the grid who are nicer than Lewis Hamilton, so I believe he won't face any issues in that regard."

"Nonetheless, my criticism is directed at John Elkann of Ferrari for approving and finalizing that agreement. It was incredibly reckless to let Carlos go."

Aston Martin’s Gamble: Will Adrian Newey’s Expertise Propel Them to F1 Glory?

Published

on

By

Aston Martin issues a cautionary note to Adrian Newey: "Success isn't assured by just one person."

Can Adrian Newey achieve success with Aston Martin?

Ex-McLaren Formula 1 mechanic, Marc Priestley, has cautioned Aston Martin that bringing Adrian Newey on board might not automatically fix their present performance issues.

In September 2024, Aston Martin revealed that Newey would take on the role of Managing Technical Partner.

Newey is set to take charge of Aston Martin's design team and will formally step into the position later this year.

Nonetheless, Priestley has cautioned that Newey by himself will not ensure Aston Martin's future achievements.

In an interview with Casino Uden Rofus, Priestley remarked that while Adrian Newey is an exceptional engineer with an outstanding intellect, the success of designing a new F1 car is not ensured by one person alone.

"I'm not denying that Aston Martin has a talented team, but there are clear signs that they have struggled to create an effective car and improve it over the course of the season."

Newey is becoming part of a team that hasn't achieved much success, yet Aston Martin has recently acquired cutting-edge facilities, and the team is expanding quickly.

Mixed Outcomes for Aston Martin

Following Lawrence Stroll's purchase of the team headquartered in Silverstone, they have seen a range of successes.

Back in 2020, when they were known as Racing Point, the team achieved fourth place in the Formula 1 constructors' championship and celebrated a victory at the Sakhir Grand Prix.

In 2023, Fernando Alonso joined Aston Martin, marking their most successful season so far. The team began the year as the second quickest, trailing only Red Bull, and Alonso achieved six podium finishes in the first eight races.

Alonso came close to securing a victory in Monaco, but Aston Martin's strategic decisions in the shifting weather conditions cost them the win.

Over the past couple of years, Aston Martin has encountered a recurring challenge, as they have consistently faced difficulties in successfully advancing their car's development during the racing season.

Considering the struggles Aston Martin has faced in their development, Alonso attributed the issues to the Mercedes wind tunnel.

The Spaniard expressed to the BBC's Chequered Flag podcast that the situation is complex and lacks a straightforward answer; otherwise, they might have already opted for an easier path than the one they have encountered.

"There seems to be a challenge in grasping some of the internal mechanics of the car, which resembles the wind tunnel issues Mercedes encountered last year while working on their car development. Our ability to utilize the wind tunnel is somewhat restricted because we are using the Mercedes facility."

F1 Speculation Heats Up: Briatore Stirs the Pot on Jack Doohan’s Alpine Future

Published

on

By

Flavio Briatore sparks rumors about Jack Doohan: "We'll find out as the season progresses"

Speculation about Jack Doohan's prospects in Formula 1 remains widespread.

Flavio Briatore, who serves as an executive advisor for Alpine F1, has further stirred rumors concerning Jack Doohan's potential with the team.

Even though Doohan made his Formula 1 debut at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there has been a lot of speculation about what lies ahead for his career.

With Franco Colapinto's impressive performance catching attention, there were hints that Briatore and Alpine might be considering bringing the Argentine talent on board.

Nevertheless, the substantial financial requirements needed to release Colapinto from his contract with Williams, along with his disappointing performance towards the end of the season, made it unfeasible to pursue a move for him.

Doohan is scheduled to compete with Pierre Gasly for Alpine in the 2025 racing season.

Although Doohan is confirmed to begin the season, his prospects for the future remain uncertain.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, Briatore did not express a firm position.

Briatore stated, "Death is the only thing we can be sure of." He confirmed that the year would begin with Pierre and Jack, but mentioned that future decisions would depend on how the season progresses.

"I need to assist the team in getting to a point where it can be successful."

The driver is responsible for completing the tasks initiated by nearly a thousand individuals supporting him.

"All employees essentially answer to a couple of individuals. If a driver isn't performing well or showing improvement, they'll be replaced."

Alpine concluded the 2024 F1 season as the leading team among the midfield competitors.

The team achieved two podium finishes at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, which boosted them to sixth place in the constructors' championship.

A major update introduced during the United States Grand Prix dramatically improved their performance, especially with Gasly driving.

Gasly earned points in four out of the last five races, but did not finish the race in Las Vegas.

Alpine has chosen to switch to using Mercedes engines in 2026, discontinuing their own engine development project.
