Jorge Martin secures the top starting spot for the 2024 German MotoGP, setting a new lap record at the Sachsenring.
The championship leader and two-time 2023 Sachsenring victor will have the elated Trackhouse pair, Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, starting alongside him on the front row.
Maverick Vinales, another rider for Aprilia, experienced a significant crash at Turn 10 during his last attempt, being thrown off his bike at a speed of 150km/h.
Vinales inched away cautiously as his broken RS-GP emitted smoke by the trackside. The recent COTA victor will begin from the seventh position.
Current world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who begins today's Sprint just 10 points behind Martin, had a quick lap invalidated due to yellow flags. He will line up on the second row alongside Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli.

Raul Fernandez and Marco Bezzecchi advanced to Qualifying 2 after topping the charts in Qualifying 1.
Jack Miller almost collided with Marc Marquez at Turn 1 when the Australian rider seemed to come up on a group moving at a slower pace ahead of him.
Despite suffering from a broken left index finger and bruised ribs, a determined Marquez faced his last opportunity to secure a spot in Q2, only to have it thwarted by HRC test rider Stefan Bradl.
The German rider attempted to swerve to avoid the #93, but was moving so slowly coming out of Turn 1 that an enraged Marquez had to abandon his lap.
After the incident, Bradl attempted to say sorry, but Marquez responded with a big shrug. The FIM Stewards decided to investigate the matter.
Marquez, who has won the German Grand Prix 11 times and has an unbeaten Sunday race record at Sachsenring in his MotoGP career, will begin the race from 13th position on the grid.
