VR46 Set to Secure Final Factory-Spec Ducati for 2025: Who Will Claim the Coveted Ride?
VR46 is expected to secure the last GP25 slot – but the rider remains uncertain
A factory-level Ducati will be available in 2025
Reports suggest that Valentino Rossi's VR46 MotoGP team is set to receive the last factory-spec Ducati for the upcoming year.
Pramac's move to become a Yamaha satellite team next year will compel Ducati to reallocate their equipment.
Gresini and VR46, the remaining satellite teams, were considering upgrading from their year-old motorcycles to the latest models.
Ducati's chief, Gigi Dall’Igna, has announced that their plan for 2025 involves deploying just three factory motorcycles. These will be allocated to Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez for the official team, with one additional bike.
According to a report from Gazzetta, VR46 will receive the third and final GP25.
One of the VR46 riders will have access to more advanced equipment compared to their teammate.
Is Fabio di Giannantonio's career in jeopardy?
The immediate question arises: which racer will benefit the most from having the top-performing motorcycle in MotoGP?
VR46 still has two open spots for riders in their 2025 MotoGP team, but Marco Bezzecchi has decided to join Aprilia.
According to Gazzetta, the team has a provision in Fabio di Giannantonio’s contract that gives them the option to keep him on their roster for a longer period.
Di Giannantonio has confirmed that he has received an offer from Pramac, a team that will be using Yamaha motorcycles next year.
Fabio Quartararo has chosen Di Giannantonio as his top choice to be a part of Yamaha's upcoming initiative.
However, providing Di Giannantonio with the third GP25 next year might enable VR46 to retain their valuable asset.
According to Gazzetta, the resulting impact would see Franco Morbidelli move to VR46 riding a bike from last year, while Fermin Aldeguer would team up with Alex Marquez at Gresini.
