Tragic Start to School Year: Bus Crash in Eastern China Kills 11, Including Children and Parents
Five children and six adults lost their lives in eastern China when a bus collided with a crowd outside a school. Following the tragic incident that also left many injured, authorities have detained the bus driver. This crash occurred shortly after national media reported on new initiatives aimed at ensuring student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people outside a middle school in Eastern China, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State media outlet CCTV reported that an accident happened at about 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Junior High School, located in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new academic year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual suffered severe injuries, while 12 others are currently in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims remains unclear.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. It lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have since detained the driver, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
