Tragic Start to School Year: 11 Dead, Including Children and Parents, in Bus Crash at Eastern China School
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China when a bus struck a crowd outside a school. Authorities have detained the bus driver following the incident, which resulted in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries, occurring shortly after national media highlighted new safety protocols for protecting students.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State media CCTV reported that the incident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
Authorities in Dongping reported that the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while twelve others are currently in stable condition. The status of any other victims involved remains unclear.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It went out of control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
