Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: 11 Dead, Including Children and Parents, as School Bus Crashes on Second Day of School Year
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a school. Authorities have taken the bus driver into custody following the incident, which also left several others injured. This tragic event occurred shortly after national media reported on new initiatives aimed at enhancing student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State media outlet CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual suffered severe injuries, whereas 12 others are currently in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to the police, the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. It veered off course as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have taken the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
