Indeed, you may have the opportunity, as the Ferrari F355 belonging to the seven-time Formula 1 world champion is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s from February 4 to February 7.

The 1996 F355 GTS is thought to be the initial Ferrari that the renowned Formula 1 driver used as his own sports car after becoming part of the Italian team. Schumacher drove it in Monaco until the end of 1997.

The Ferrari features a Bel Le Mans exterior and a Pella Crema leather interior, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Cavalleri Monaco Motors has provided a letter verifying that they performed maintenance on the vehicle for Schumacher.

The year prior to when the F355 became available with the 'F1' style semi-automatic paddleshift transmission.

The vehicle is equipped with a 3.5-liter V8 engine that produces 375 horsepower. This engine features 40 valves and can rev up to 8,500 revolutions per minute. The car has been driven for approximately 29,500 miles.

Since it was owned by Ferrari's most legendary driver, it is likely to attract significant attention at the auction.

The consignor, who worked as a motoring journalist covering Formula 1 at the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix, recounted an encounter with Michael Schumacher, then part of the Mercedes-AMG team. During their conversation, he inquired about Schumacher's former F355 GTS. Schumacher immediately recognized the car from a photograph and expressed his pleasure that it had been purchased by someone who truly appreciated it, according to RM Sotheby’s notes.

Eager to make the most of his newly acquired F355 GTS, he drove it directly from Monaco to his home in Belgium after buying it. Since then, he's frequently taken it out for pleasure drives and to attend car events throughout Belgium.

The current owner has seen this item highlighted in three separate magazine articles: one in the November 2006 edition of Forza magazine, another in the March 2013 issue of the German publication Ferrari World, and a third in the June 2021 edition of Auto Trends Classic magazine, which was available in both Dutch and French.

Back in 2017, the vehicle took home the Best of Show award at Spa Italia in Belgium. Minichamps created a line of 1:43 scale replicas of this car, featuring a display that included Michael Schumacher in the background. Before it was purchased, the car had already covered around 21,000 kilometers, and at the time of being cataloged, its odometer displayed nearly 47,500 kilometers since it was new.

In 2020, this vehicle received Ferrari Classiche certification, verifying that it still possesses its original chassis, gearbox, and bodywork, and maintains its original color scheme. Although the certification indicates that the car’s current engine is not the original, it is of the appropriate type. There is speculation that when the car was initially delivered to Michael Schumacher, it had an enhanced engine, though this claim remains unverified. The existing engine was installed before the current owner acquired the car in 2004.

During the period it has been owned by its current owner, the car has consistently been maintained by official Ferrari service centers, following the recommended service intervals. There are many service invoices available from this time, along with documents from Monaco Motors from the years 2002 and 2004, before the consignor took ownership.

In September 2024, F.M.A Ferrari completed the most recent significant maintenance on the F355 GTS. This service involved installing a new windshield, replacing the rear brake pads, timing belts, and spark plugs, fitting a new battery, and refurbishing the dashboard.

According to Formula 1 specialist Martin Brundle, Ferrari has made considerable progress compared to McLaren during the offseason.

Ferrari came close to winning the 2024 F1 constructors' championship, ending the season only 13 points short of McLaren.

The Scuderia regretted a mid-season improvement that ended up limiting their performance for the rest of the season.

This resulted in a series of disappointing performances from Barcelona to Hungary, consistently placing Ferrari behind Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes.

Acknowledging their efforts, they addressed their problems with an upgrade introduced at Monza, which turned their season around and put them in the running for the championship.

Ferrari believes that by maintaining their current path and especially by enhancing their performance in fast corners, they can surpass McLaren in the rankings.

During an interview with Sky Sports News, Brundle disclosed that Ferrari has achieved significant progress over the off-season.

"Ferrari is feeling quite assured. Currently, it seems that Ferrari may have made slightly more progress with their car compared to McLaren or other teams," Brundle commented.

It is understood that McLaren has strong faith in their data and the design of their new car. This season is expected to be among the most exciting in the history of Formula 1. The competition will be extremely tight, and the victor will earn a prestigious championship title.

"We won't really understand the true speed of the cars until we see them in action, likely not before the Saturday of the first race in Melbourne. It’s when they’re running with low fuel, at full throttle, with maximum power and fresh tires that we’ll get a clear picture of which team has nailed it. As you’re aware, it's crucial to see which cars maintain their speed after 30, 50, or even 60 laps during a grand prix."

"Let's hold off on making conclusions. It's quite bold to either dismiss someone or declare them as the champion."

Could Hamilton's Arrival Benefit Ferrari?

Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari is expected to provide the team with a significant advantage as they approach the upcoming season.

This week marked a significant moment for the team as Hamilton made his inaugural visit to Maranello, followed by taking the 2023 car out on the track.

Ferrari is optimistic that bringing in Hamilton might finally break their lengthy championship dry spell, which has persisted since 2008.

The FIA has explained how the funds collected from fines imposed on F1 drivers are utilized.

Last season, the sport's governing authority collected a sum of 270,000 Euros from drivers due to various penalties.

Motorists faced penalties for violations such as speeding in the pit lane, entering an active track area, and, most contentiously, for using offensive language.

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen faced penalties for using profanity during official press briefings.

However, the FIA has clarified how they allocate the funds.

According to Nikolas Tombazis, who leads the single-seater racing division within the organization, the FIA operates as a non-profit entity, as reported by Autosport.

"Our organization isn't focused on satisfying shareholders who are monitoring stock market figures and anticipating an increase in stock prices or higher dividend payouts."

"All the funds are allocated towards activities deemed advantageous, whether they're related to safety measures, grassroots motorsport initiatives, or occasionally other endeavors associated with road safety."

"I believe that this question is occasionally swayed by the current emotions surrounding the specific fine being talked about."

"I understand that people who have to pay a fine often feel a bit upset and might even feel wronged. However, it's important to recognize that there are various types of projects, and it's not reasonable to assume that this money is used for things like Christmas parties."

"The funds invested in grassroots efforts far surpass the total of penalties collected, suggesting that any contributions to these initiatives are likely to yield beneficial results."

"It's likely challenging to identify initiatives at the FIA that lack a foundation in grassroots motorsport or a focus on social impact."

I can confidently state that penalties imposed on drivers in one sport do not financially support another sport, category, or anything similar.

"When considering other efforts, such as our campaigns addressing online harassment and the grassroots initiatives we've previously discussed, or safety projects, I see these as commendable uses of funds. I am confident that these resources support these causes."

Prior to their unexpected separation, Cullen served as Hamilton's physiotherapist at Mercedes from 2016 to 2023.

During a skiing vacation over the winter break, the Kiwi hinted at the possibility of reuniting with Hamilton. Her return was officially announced earlier this week.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Brundle expressed the opinion that collaborating with Cullen once more would be crucial for Hamilton to adapt swiftly to Ferrari, considering it is a new team setting in another nation.

"It can be somewhat difficult because it's like learning a new language to identify where all the positive aspects are within a team," Brundle explained.

"He has parted ways with Bono, his well-known engineer, and the familiar environment of Mercedes. The transition won't be straightforward. For this reason, he has brought in Angela Cullen and his manager Mark Hynes to build a supportive team around him."

Significant obstacles exist. His colleague, Charles Leclerc, has essentially spent seven years in the same environment and is familiar with every detail, understanding who is responsible for what and how to get things done.

"Lewis must confront the challenge. Leclerc possesses remarkable speed. However, I am certain that if Ferrari provides a car capable of winning races or championships, Lewis has the ability to secure victories and even clinch the championship title."

Lewis Hamilton aims to silence his critics by joining Ferrari after experiencing his most challenging season in Formula 1.

Although Hamilton secured two victories in his last season with Mercedes, he was thoroughly outshone by his teammate George Russell.

Hamilton's difficulties during the 2024 qualifying rounds led him to doubt if he still possesses the necessary speed.

Brundle believes that Hamilton will be highly motivated to demonstrate to everyone that he is not past his prime.

Brundle mentioned that some believe two of the most prominent figures in the 75-year history of Formula 1—Ferrari and Hamilton—are joining forces.

Martin Brundle has expressed support for the new misconduct regulations that the FIA, the governing body of Formula 1, will implement this year.

According to updates made to the FIA's International Sporting Code for the 2025 season, drivers who consistently use offensive language or express criticism towards the governing body may be subject to penalties, including the deduction of points or potential bans.

An F1 driver could face a "one-month suspension and loss of championship points" if they commit three violations.

Former Formula 1 driver and now commentator, Brundle, shared his opinion on the recent changes, emphasizing that drivers ought to be seen as "role models." He drew a parallel to the respect shown towards referees in the sport of rugby.

Brundle mentioned to Sky Sports News that he believes Formula 1 drivers, including himself, serve as role models and should avoid using excessive profanity during press conferences.

"During intense situations, such as being in a car overwhelmed with adrenaline and a mix of emotions like despair or joy, I understand the reactions. However, on a personal level, it doesn't sit well with me."

One of the things I admire about rugby is the way they honor the referee, and I believe Formula 1 ought to adopt a similar approach. As drivers, you serve as examples for the emerging talent in the sport.

"If you're behaving unethically on the track, such as ignoring track boundaries or insulting the FIA stewards by calling them 'stupid idiots,' to cite just one example, or acting in an overly unreasonable manner, I believe there are varying levels of misconduct. The severity of the consequences you wish to impose is an entirely separate matter."

"I don't have an issue with having certain guidelines for our F1 drivers, who are admirable young individuals, to be role models. I'm comfortable with that."

What are the latest rules?

On Wednesday, a revised edition of the FIA's Sporting Code was released, outlining possible consequences, which now include stricter penalties for repeated violations.

The governing authority defines misconduct as the use of language—whether spoken or written—gestures, or signs that are offensive, insulting, vulgar, impolite, or abusive, and that could reasonably be expected or perceived to be inappropriate, offensive, humiliating, or coarse. It also includes acts such as hitting, elbowing, kicking, or punching, as well as encouraging others to engage in such behavior.

A Formula 1 driver found guilty of breaking the rules will face an initial penalty of €40,000 (£34,000). If the driver commits a second violation, they will be fined €80,000 (£68,000) and face the possibility of a suspended one-month ban.

If F1 drivers commit a third violation, they would face a €120,000 (£102,000) fine, a suspension lasting one month, and a loss of championship points.

Not following the FIA's guidelines on who can be appointed and participate in official ceremonies at any event that counts towards an FIA Championship might lead to an F1 driver facing a ban.

Penalties in this case start with a €60,000 (£50,000) fine for an initial violation and escalate to a €120,000 (£101,000) fine, along with being banned from accessing Reserved Areas at the next event, for a repeat offense.

Further violations could result in a €180,000 (£152,000) penalty and a six-month ban from racing.

Martin Brundle makes a rugby analogy regarding the FIA's latest regulations for F1 in 2025. Brundle shares his thoughts on the newly introduced misconduct rules by the FIA.

Martin Brundle has expressed his support for the new set of misconduct regulations that F1's governing organization, the FIA, will implement this year.

The updated International Sporting Code by the FIA for the 2025 season indicates that drivers who frequently use offensive language or criticize the governing body could be penalized with points deductions or even face suspensions.

A Formula 1 driver could face a "one-month suspension and a loss of championship points" if they commit three violations.

Former Formula 1 driver and now commentator, Brundle, expressed his opinion on the modifications, emphasizing that drivers ought to serve as "role models." He drew a parallel to the respect that referees receive in rugby.

"We serve as examples for others. Formula 1 drivers are seen as role models, so there's no need for us to use offensive language during a press conference," Brundle mentioned to Sky Sports News.

Amidst intense emotions and adrenaline while in the car, whether it's despair, joy, or anything else, I can understand why someone might act that way, but personally, it just doesn't sit well with me.

"What I admire about rugby is the way they honor the referee, and I believe that Formula 1 should follow this example. As prominent figures, you set an example for all aspiring drivers."

"If you're not following the rules on the track, like exceeding track limits or insulting the FIA stewards by calling them 'stupid idiots,' for instance, or behaving unreasonably, I believe there are varying levels to consider. How strict you want to be is a different matter entirely."

"I don't see an issue with having certain guidelines for our Formula 1 drivers, who are excellent young individuals, to serve as role models. I'm comfortable with that."

What are the latest instructions?

On Wednesday, a revised edition of the FIA’s Sporting Code was released, outlining possible consequences and introducing stricter penalties for individuals who commit repeated violations.

The governing body defines misconduct as using language—whether spoken or written—or gestures and signs that are offensive, insulting, vulgar, rude, or abusive, which could reasonably be expected to offend, humiliate, or be deemed inappropriate. Misconduct also includes physical assaults such as elbowing, kicking, punching, or hitting, as well as encouraging others to engage in any of these actions.

A Formula 1 driver found guilty of breaking the rules will face an initial penalty of €40,000, equivalent to £34,000. If the driver commits a second violation, they will be fined €80,000, which is £68,000, along with a suspended suspension for one month.

For a third violation, Formula 1 drivers would face a €120,000 fine (equivalent to £102,000), a suspension lasting one month, and a penalty involving the loss of championship points.

Not following the FIA's rules about who can attend and take part in official events during any competition that is part of an FIA Championship might lead to an F1 driver being prohibited from competing.

Penalties in this situation start at €60,000 (£50,000) for an initial violation. For a repeat offense, the fine increases to €120,000 (£101,000), and there is also a penalty of being barred from entering the Reserved Area(s) during the subsequent event.

Further violations could lead to a fine of €180,000 (£152,000) and a suspension from racing for six months.

Kevin Magnussen Secures Pole Position for BMW Debut at Daytona 24 Hours

BMW Car #24 Leads Qualifying at Daytona

Kevin Magnussen is set to make his debut at the Daytona 24 Hours, driving the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8, which will begin the race from the pole position at the iconic American endurance event.

Following his departure from the Haas Formula 1 team, Magnussen has inked a deal with BMW to join their roster as a factory driver for the 2025 season.

Magnussen is set to concentrate mainly on the World Endurance Championship with WRT, while also participating in the three major endurance races of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. His involvement kicks off this weekend with the Daytona 24 Hours event.

Car #24, which will be driven by Magnussen alongside Dries Vanthoor, Philipp Eng, and Raffaele Marciello, is set to begin the Daytona classic from the front of the grid. Notably, Marciello will also team up with MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi in a BMW managed by WRT for the Bathurst 12 Hour race.

Vanthoor was assigned the responsibility of driving the car in the GTP class pole shootout, and he completed a lap in 1 minute and 33.895 seconds.

"It definitely wasn't simple dealing with the red flag situation," Vanthoor commented, referring to the early stoppage caused by the #25 BMW during the session.

"It complicates the process of heating up tires for all involved."

"Last year posed significant challenges for us, but we've made considerable progress since then."

"After that, my focus was on completing the lap and performing to the best of my ability. Fortunately, everything came together, and I'm really pleased with the outcome."

Martin Brundle comments on Lewis Hamilton, suggesting that age may have diminished his performance as he prepares for his first season with Ferrari.

F1 commentator Martin Brundle believes that Lewis Hamilton's performance has slightly declined with age. However, he still considers the seven-time world champion capable of winning championships.

This week marked a significant moment for Hamilton, as he made his inaugural visit to Ferrari's Maranello factory on Monday.

Following a series of initial team briefings and an initial simulator run, Hamilton made his debut on the Fiorano circuit with Ferrari, piloting their 2023 Formula 1 car for the first time.

As expected, Hamilton's debut week with the team has captivated everyone, with a photo of him posing in front of Enzo Ferrari’s iconic former residence becoming the most 'liked' F1-related post on Instagram.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Brundle was asked about Hamilton's abilities and if he still possesses the skills needed to race against the top competitors in Formula 1.

"Brundle reflected on the previous year at Silverstone, noting that when he had the opportunity to secure a victory at the British Grand Prix, he succeeded. He also clinched a win at Spa, although that triumph was somewhat fortunate due to George's disqualification."

During practice sessions in Las Vegas, Lewis showcased exceptional skills but faltered during the qualifying round, a rare occurrence for him. Despite this setback, he delivered an outstanding performance in the race. It seems he certainly has the speed.

"Is Lewis Hamilton's greatest performance still to come, or is it in the past? In my opinion, it's in the past. I believe he's lost some of his sharpness as he's gotten older, which is a natural occurrence."

"There are occasions when he finds himself in skirmishes that he used to come out ahead in, but now he doesn't, or he might slip up during qualifying sessions. Nevertheless, I believe that even at 96 or 97 percent, Lewis Hamilton in a competitive car remains formidable."

Hamilton is expected to find new inspiration with Ferrari, potentially revitalizing his drive and enthusiasm.

Being in a fresh environment with a different group is expected to enhance his performance, while

Ferrari's performance during races is expected to give Hamilton a strong chance to consistently compete for a spot on the podium.

Last year, Ferrari came close to clinching the F1 constructors’ championship, ending up only 13 points shy of McLaren.

Even though Mercedes secured two victories, they ended up in a far-off fourth place in the championship standings. Their performance has been notably erratic, a trend that has persisted since the introduction of these technical rules in 2022.

Brundle believes that Hamilton won't be "overcome" by the challenges and stress associated with driving for Ferrari.

"He possesses all the necessary experience, and, as I mentioned, the entire experience will revitalize his energy and enthusiasm," he remarked.

He won't be daunted by handling a Ferrari, unlike many other drivers. Additionally, even though he's not part of the Ferrari team, the passionate Italian supporters, known as the Tifosi, love him. He's heading there, and they absolutely cherish him.

"The crowd supported him even during his victories with Mercedes."

Lewis Hamilton has revealed new information about his decision to depart from Mercedes and join their F1 competitors, Ferrari.

In February, the Formula 1 community was stunned when the driver, who has won the world championship seven times, revealed his plans to depart from Mercedes and make a high-profile move to their competitors, Ferrari.

Following his contentious title loss to Max Verstappen in 2021, during which he secured only two victories, Hamilton has inked a multi-year contract with Ferrari. He is now preparing for his first season racing alongside Charles Leclerc with the Italian team.

In a discussion with LinkedIn's 'Get Hired' newsletter, the 40-year-old from Britain shared new perspectives on why he decided to relocate.

"According to Hamilton, each fresh opportunity is essentially an act of complete trust."

No one can foresee what lies ahead, so whether you're switching jobs or, like me, transitioning to a new team, there will invariably be an element of uncertainty involved.

"However, I think the greater danger lies in remaining in a place where you feel at ease, as it can lead to complacency."

Whether you call it intuition or just a gut feeling, I was certain that joining Ferrari was the right choice for me and would provide the challenge I was seeking.

"I'm really looking forward to collaborating with the amazing individuals on our team, and I'm completely confident that we'll accomplish remarkable feats together."

Hamilton stated that his ongoing drive for betterment is what keeps him inspired after 18 years in Formula 1.

He stated, "I consider each Formula 1 season to be a fresh chapter." He went on to explain that despite having victories, trophies, and titles in previous years, he understands that success in the upcoming season is never assured.

"My strategy involves putting in maximum effort daily, ensuring that when I return to the car, I've improved beyond my performance from the previous season."

"The mentality of consistently advancing, regardless of the scale of the steps, has driven me to accomplish more than I once believed I could."

Anthony, Hamilton’s father, disclosed that his son has been "training intensely" as he prepares for his debut season with Ferrari.

Hamilton has had a positive experience during his initial week working at Ferrari. On Wednesday, he drove their 2023 Formula 1 car for the first time, marking his debut on the track for the team at the Fiorano testing circuit.
