Subtiler Glanz und Mehr Power: Das BMW 2er Coupé (2024) mit Serienmäßigem M Sportpaket und Exklusiven Upgrades

Published

on

The 2024 BMW 2 Series Coupé is set to receive a subtle update to its appearance. The M Sport package features will now be standard, and the M240i will only be available with all-wheel drive. Similar to the updates given to the M2, BMW has given its more conventional sibling a minor refresh, although it might take an enthusiast to spot the changes. With an intricately revised design, expanded standard equipment, and a focus on digital enhancements, BMW claims the two-door model is more appealing than ever. Let's dive in…

The latest version of the compact two-door model now comes standard with the M Sport package, enhancing its dynamic nature even more prominently. The M-specific design includes notably large air intakes at the front of the car, prominent side skirts, and a striking rear bumper featuring vertically aligned reflectors and a diffuser-style insert.

The front end of the latest BMW 2 Series Coupe features a kidney grille surround now finished in pearl gloss chrome. The side skirts, as well as the lower part of the rear bumper, are no longer painted black but are instead coated in the car's respective body color. Adding a striking contrast to the rear view, the diffuser insert is presented in a high-gloss black finish.

The BMW M240i xDrive Coupe features a unique interpretation of M-specific design elements that enhance the intake of cooling air and improve aerodynamic stability. Its distinctive style is further accentuated by high-gloss black inserts for the side air intakes, a black front spoiler lip, a model-specific rear spoiler, and trapezoidal tailpipe trims protruding from both sides of the rear bumper. In the future, the exterior mirror caps of the BMW M automobile will be painted in high-gloss black.

The M High Gloss Shadow Line is now standard equipment for both the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe and all other models. The optional M Sport Package Pro, available for all versions of the new BMW 2 Series Coupe, enhances the exterior's design that signals dynamic driving pleasure with features such as M Lights Shadow Line, an M rear spoiler in Sapphire Black, and the M High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features. Additionally, it includes an M Sport braking system with red-painted brake calipers and M seat belts.

The exterior color options for the latest BMW 2 Series Coupe include a selection of two non-metallic and seven metallic paints. In addition, two bespoke BMW Individual paint finishes, Frozen Pure Grey metallic and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic, are available. For the first time, the two-door model will feature Fire Red metallic and Skyscraper Grey metallic options. The BMW M240i xDrive Coupe exclusively introduces a new non-metallic Zandvoort Blue to its color palette.

The 2024 version of the BMW M240i

The latest BMW 2 Series Coupé models come standard with 18-inch M light-alloy wheels featuring a bi-color double-spoke design (the BMW M240i xDrive Coupé sports a 19-inch version). Customers can opt for newly available 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, also in a double-spoke pattern, which are offered in either Jetblack or a two-tone option. Additionally, BMW Individual presents a new selection of 19-inch light-alloy wheels with a Y-spoke pattern and a bi-color finish. All 19-inch alloy wheels are paired with mixed-size tires.

Furthermore, interior modifications are heavily focused on embracing technology advancements. The BMW Curved Display becomes increasingly central to the intuitive management of the car's features. This fully digital cluster combines a 12.3-inch Information Display with a 14.9-inch Control Display. It now serves as the platform for the enhanced BMW iDrive that includes QuickSelect, built upon the BMW Operating System 8.5.

The operations for the automatic climate control, and if available, the heated seats and steering wheel, can now be controlled via touch on the Control Display or by using voice commands. This integration coincides with a reduction in physical buttons and knobs within the cockpit, leading to a redesigned dashboard. Additionally, new adjustment dials have been added to the air vents located in the center of the dashboard and on both the driver's and passenger's side, allowing airflow direction to be modified through rotating and tilting actions.

Additionally, the standard ambient lighting in the new BMW 2 Series Coupe includes a novel waterfall illumination feature that is incorporated into the trim of the central air vents. This lighting can be customized according to personal color preferences and brightness levels, with a choice of nine different color schemes. The settings for color and intensity can be saved according to user profiles.

The latest BMW 2 Series Coupe comes standard with an M leather steering wheel. This updated version features a distinctly flattened bottom section, finely-tweaked spokes, and a subtle center marker. Similarly, the specific M leather steering wheel for the new M240i xDrive Coupe now includes a flattened bottom. It enhances the vehicle's sporty interior atmosphere with a red center marker at the 12 o'clock position and contrast stitching in the signature colors of M GmbH.

Let's discuss the engine options: The new BMW 2 Series Coupé will continue to feature a single six-cylinder engine – a 3.0-liter in the M240i xDrive Coupé, boasting 374 horsepower and capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

Upcoming 2024 BMW M240i

Additionally, there are three different gasoline engines and one diesel engine available, each with four cylinders and a 2.0-liter capacity. The base model, the 218i Coupe, comes with 156 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

Above that, the 220i Coupe features a power output of 184 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the 230i boasts a top power delivery of 180 kW/245 horsepower, allowing it to complete the standard sprint in 5.9 seconds.

The BMW 220d Coupé stands as the sole diesel option in its lineup. This diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 190 horsepower and is enhanced by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It features an integrated belt-driven starter-generator that provides an additional boost of 11 horsepower. This extra power allows the 220d Coupé to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.

Latest updates from BMW:

All engines are paired with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The latest version of the compact two-door model now features the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission as a standard in the BMW M240i xDrive Coupe, BMW 230i Coupe, BMW 220i Coupe, and BMW 220d Coupe. Meanwhile, this automatic transmission option is offered as an additional feature for the new BMW 218i Coupe.

The four-cylinder models of the BMW 2 Series Coupe are anticipated to demonstrate enhanced agility and cornering dynamics, thanks to the standard M Sport suspension. This suspension system is noted for its tight configuration, including spring tuning and displacement-dependent shock absorbers. In addition, it features a Variable Sport Steering with a ratio that changes based on the steering angle. Pricing for the upgraded BMW 2 Series Coupe starts at 45,300 Euros in Germany, marking a 4,500 Euro increase from the previous model, which did not include automatic transmission and built-in navigation as standard features.
