Ricciardo was considered as a potential replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull midway through the season.

After a decisive meeting between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, Red Bull has opted to continue with Perez, effectively shutting down any chance of Ricciardo making a comeback.

Ricciardo's continued association with RB remained in doubt as the season's initial weeks saw increasing stress.

However, Ricciardo deserves recognition for gradually improving his situation.

According to information obtained by Crash.net, Red Bull intends to maintain their current pair of drivers, ensuring that Ricciardo will remain with the team for the remainder of the season, sharing the lineup with Yuki Tsunoda.

This implies that the earliest Liam Lawson can hope for a full-time position with the team is in 2025.

Ricciardo and Lawson are scheduled for a test session with Red Bull at the Imola circuit this Wednesday.

Initially, the evaluation was termed a 'shootout' to determine the possible successor to Perez at Red Bull.

With Perez's position confirmed, it would typically be assumed that the focus would shift to deciding who would occupy the second Red Bull seat for the 2024 season.
