Porsche Closes the Door on Formula 1 Dreams After Failed Red Bull Partnership
Porsche offers insight on F1 participation following scrapped Red Bull proposal
Porsche has given an update on their potential entry into F1
Porsche has definitively ruled out entering Formula 1.
The powerful producer previously experienced a failed negotiation with Red Bull.
Porsche was on track to acquire a 50% stake in both the Red Bull Formula 1 team and its Powertrains division, but the deal fell through when the parties failed to reach an agreement.
Now, in light of the upcoming 2026 rules, Porsche has explicitly stated their goals.
"Thomas Laudenbach, a prominent figure in motorsport, was reported by Motorsport as saying, 'It is no longer under consideration.'"
Currently, F1 is not a priority for us, and we are not dedicating any effort to it.
"We participate in customer racing events ranging from track days and GT4 to one-make series and professional GT racing."
"Additionally, we are competing in the two premier endurance racing series alongside our partner Penske."
"The third aspect, given the critical importance of electrifying our brand, involves our participation in Formula E, the sole fully electric racing series of its caliber."
"I believe we are truly well taken care of."
Porsche last participated in Formula 1 as an engine provider for the Footwork team in 1991.
In 2022, Volkswagen announced that its subsidiaries, Porsche and Audi, were considering joining Formula 1.
However, the partnership between Porsche and Red Bull was terminated. Christian Horner referred to it as a "strategic disagreement."
Red Bull has teamed up with Ford for the 2026 season, and Audi is set to make its complete entry into Formula 1 in that year as well.
