MV Agusta Eyes MotoGP Return in 2027 Under Pierer Mobility Group’s Ambitious Revival Plan
New insights suggest plans to reintroduce MV Agusta to MotoGP by 2027
The proprietors of MV Agusta have announced the brand may make a comeback to MotoGP by 2027.
The renowned company is under the ownership of Pierer Mobility Group, which also holds KTM and GASGAS in its portfolio.
The iconic motorcycle brand MV Agusta, famed for being the vehicle on which the renowned Giacomo Agostini clinched his top-tier championships, has undergone a significant overhaul under its current ownership.
However, it might make a comeback to the circuit once the updated MotoGP rules are implemented.
"Our goal remains unchanged, and we aim to return MV Agusta to the top tier," said Hubert Trunkenpolz, a board member of Pierer Mobility Group, in a conversation with GPOne.
"However, our approach will not involve creating a distinct engine since there is only one top-tier in-house MotoGP engine, and we have no intention of withholding it from MV."

By 2027, KTM and MV will be jointly utilizing the latest 850cc engine designed for MotoGP racing, leading to MV not competing as an independent manufacturer in that year. "It's beyond our financial capacity and not permissible for us to do so."
Our strategy concerning MV Agusta is straightforward.
"Between 2024 and 2026, our goal is to steer the company toward recovery. It will require a period to ensure stability across various fronts, including our product lineup, manufacturing locations, and business operations."
"Until everything is properly arranged, it's futile to compete in MotoGP races.
"Nonetheless, 2027 could present a favorable opportunity for MV Agusta to make its debut in MotoGP."
