In past years, Mercedes has unveiled their latest F1 vehicle at Silverstone, where they also perform a shakedown run and a filming session prior to the start of pre-season testing.

Nevertheless, Mercedes has chosen not to proceed with this plan in 2025, indicating that the period following Lewis Hamilton's career will commence without a formal introduction.

The Mercedes W16 will be unveiled for the first time during a filming session at the Bahrain International Circuit on February 25. During this event, George Russell and newcomer Andrea Kimi Antonelli will take turns behind the wheel.

The event is scheduled for the day before pre-season testing begins, which is set to occur from February 26th to 28th in Bahrain.

With the exception of 2021, Mercedes has held a launch event at Silverstone each year starting from 2017.

The debut of the W16 will take place in late February, but Mercedes plans to reveal their 2025 car design at the same time as all other teams during the official F1 season launch on February 18 at the O2 Arena in London.

Ferrari, Hamilton's new team, became the first to reveal the date for their 2025 car unveiling.

On February 19, at the Fiorano testing circuit in Maranello, Scuderia will unveil their latest vehicle. The seven-time world champion, along with his new teammate Charles Leclerc, is scheduled to drive the car for the first time.

On February 14, Williams is set to unveil their latest FW47 race car with a unique livery at Silverstone.

Antonelli accumulates significant test mileage

In the meantime, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff disclosed that Antonelli has completed "nearly 9000 kilometers" in Formula 1 cars ahead of his debut this season.

An 18-year-old who recently completed Formula 2 is set to take over Hamilton's spot at Mercedes.

Over the past year, Antonelli has driven various vintage Mercedes Formula 1 cars on multiple tracks to get ready for his debut season.

Davidson mentioned that they are optimistic his passion will reignite once he steps into the vehicle, helping him regain his confidence and drive.

"This year, 2024, has been especially challenging for Lewis. As someone who used to be a driver, I find it hard to fathom what it's like to go through an entire season with the knowledge that you will be stepping away and that the partnership will conclude."

In past years, Mercedes has unveiled their latest Formula 1 car at Silverstone and followed it up with a shakedown session and a filming day prior to the pre-season tests.

Nevertheless, Mercedes has opted not to proceed with this in 2025, indicating that the period following Lewis Hamilton's tenure will commence without a formal introduction.

Mercedes' W16 car will make its debut appearance during a filming day at the Bahrain International Circuit on February 25. The driving responsibilities will be split between George Russell and newcomer Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

"It is hoped that this will apply pressure on Max, encouraging him to enhance his driving skills, ultimately benefiting the team's advancement."

Villeneuve has given Lawson a goal for 2025. Red Bull expects Lawson to perform significantly better than the person he is replacing.

Perez's streak of subpar performances led to Red Bull slipping to third place in the F1 constructors' championship, marking their lowest placement since 2019.

Villeneuve believes that Lawson should target finishing just one or two positions behind Verstappen in the 2025 season.

He stated that if the car isn't capable of securing a championship victory, then the goal must be to finish in second place or not at all. For Lawson, a strong result would mean ending up either directly behind Verstappen or two positions behind him.

"Nothing beyond that. Winning races significantly boosts your points total, as there's a large gap between first and second place. However, if you finish in third, fourth, or fifth, the difference in points is minimal."

The British individual, aged 55, has taken over the role previously held by Mike Krack. Krack has been reassigned to a new trackside position that concentrates on performance enhancement.

Tom McCullough, formerly responsible for trackside operations as the performance director, is transitioning to a different position within the broader organization.

Aston Martin stated that the modifications aim to establish a more "horizontal" leadership framework.

Aston Martin ended the season in fifth place in the constructors' championship for the second consecutive year. This time around, drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll managed to secure just 94 points. This was a significant drop from the 280 points they collected in 2023, a season that began with Aston Martin posing a strong challenge to Red Bull right after the winter break.

Cowell, known for his expertise in Mercedes' F1 engines throughout the team's dominant period in the V6 hybrid era, mentioned that the modifications were implemented following several months of assessing the team's performance and their working practices.

In an interview on Aston Martin's official website, Cowell stated that the modifications aim to enhance both the clarity within the organization and the performance of the race car.

"We decided to split the Aerodynamics, Engineering, and Performance Departments into distinct teams, with some focusing on trackside activities and others operating from the AMR Technology Campus."

The group working at the track will be headed by Mike [Krack], who has taken on the position of Chief Trackside Officer. Enrico [Cardile] will oversee the other team as the Chief Technical Officer. Both will be accountable to me.

This reorganization allows Mike's group to concentrate on optimizing the car's performance at each Grand Prix, while Enrico's group can dedicate their efforts to the intricate task of designing a new race car.

Aston Martin’s Development Struggles: Andy Cowell’s Candid Reflection on F1 Setbacks and Future Ambitions

Andy Cowell concedes that Aston Martin has not met expectations in the development of their Formula 1 car.

Aston Martin's team leader, Andy Cowell, acknowledged that their team did not meet expectations in their development efforts throughout the 2024 F1 season.

The team based in Silverstone started the 2023 season as the closest competitors to Red Bull following an impressive overhaul during the winter, with Fernando Alonso securing eight podium finishes throughout the season.

Last season, Aston Martin managed to retain their fifth position in the constructors' championship, but their performance declined. Neither Fernando Alonso nor Lance Stroll achieved any podium finishes, and the team only accumulated 94 points, a significant drop from the 280 points they secured in 2023.

Over the past two years, Aston Martin has faced challenges in enhancing their Formula 1 cars as the season progresses. Cowell, who took on the role of team principal last week amid a restructuring of the organization, acknowledged this as a shortcoming.

Dan Fallows was relieved of his role as technical director towards the end of last year due to this troubling pattern.

"The entire team is putting in a lot of effort," Cowell mentioned to Aston Martin's official website.

"We certainly took the lead in 2024 for the highest number of updates, yet those modifications didn't translate into faster laps. Ultimately, the goal in this industry is to enhance lap times."

This doesn't mean we need to succeed on every attempt. I've come across data indicating that in genuine research and development settings, achieving success 20% of the time is considered a strong performance.

"If we achieve a 20% success rate, that's positive. However, it's crucial that this occurs at the AMR Technology Campus rather than on the racetrack."

Aston Martin has relocated to a new campus and is set to have a cutting-edge wind tunnel operational by 2026.

However, Cowell mentioned that improvements can be made using the resources that the team currently possesses.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all tools and procedures at the Technology Campus are functioning effectively so that when we implement an update to the circuit, we can be at least 90 percent confident that it will perform successfully on the track and align with our expectations.

Attaining this goal is challenging, yet it remains essential for our objectives. We possess cutting-edge CFD tools and are about to launch the sport's most sophisticated wind tunnel. However, these are merely simulations, and there is always a chance that the data might not align perfectly with our findings on the track. Despite this, our simulations provide us with strong guidance, and I am optimistic that we can reach a 90 percent accuracy rate.

Teams that have won the World Championship are working at that high standard, so we need to strive for at least that level.

Aston Martin is not solely concentrating on 2026. The company has ambitious plans to become a contender for the championship in the coming years. They view the upcoming changes in engine and design regulations set for 2026 as a significant chance to advance towards leading the grid.

This year, the team's design department is expected to be bolstered by bringing in renowned F1 designer Adrian Newey from Red Bull and Ferrari's chief technical officer Enrico Cardile.

Beginning in 2026, Aston Martin will assume the use of Honda engines, which are currently used by Red Bull.

Cowell emphasized that while 2026 presents a significant opportunity, the focus extends beyond that year to include 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030. The aim is to develop a team capable of maintaining long-term success.

"Certainly, 2026 holds significance, yet it is merely one stage in our ongoing path. Equally, 2025 represents a crucial milestone in our progress. Our attention is on enhancing our performance this year to build a strong foundation for success as we move towards 2026."

"It is crucial not to downplay the magnitude of the challenge involved in integrating all these components. We need to shift from a customer team to a works team while simultaneously adapting to new regulations. Additionally, we have to develop and produce our own gearbox and other car parts that were previously provided by Mercedes."

Helmut Marko has described bringing Nyck De Vries on board as his "biggest error" in his role as Red Bull's Formula 1 advisor.

Since 2005, Marko has been an important figure at Red Bull, overseeing their program for young talent.

The Austrian typically plays a key role in determining which young racers join the team and who gets their first opportunity to race in Formula 1 with Racing Bulls, previously known as AlphaTauri and Toro Rosso.

After Pierre Gasly chose to depart from the team to join Alpine at the conclusion of 2022, Red Bull encountered a lack of drivers.

They chose not to offer the position to any of their less experienced drivers and decided to bring De Vries on board instead.

In his singular appearance substituting for Alex Albon at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix, De Vries managed to earn points for the Williams team.

Nevertheless, the Dutch driver faced difficulties in delivering strong performances after being assigned a permanent position for the 2023 season.

After only ten races, Daniel Ricciardo ended up taking his place.

Marko expressed to Autosprint that his most significant error was unquestionably Nyck De Vries.

"He performed impressively during his first race with Williams at Monza. However, after joining AlphaTauri, he did not advance."

"His achievements were impressive, having won the FIA F2 championship and the Formula E world title. However, our timing results indicated that Nyck wasn't the right fit for us. In his efforts to improve his speed, he unfortunately made errors."

Marko and Red Bull, having reflected on their previous errors, have chosen to advance their internal team members for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Liam Lawson has taken over Sergio Perez's position to race with Max Verstappen, and Isack Hadjar is now teaming up with Yuki Tsunoda at RB.

The Red Bull junior program has achieved remarkable success.

Sebastian Vettel and Verstappen successfully navigated their challenges, securing several world championships while driving for Red Bull.

Ricciardo achieved victory in seven out of eight races for the team, whereas Gasly secured a win for their junior team in 2020.

Carlos Sainz departed from the Red Bull organization to pursue a successful career with teams like Renault, McLaren, and, most recently, Ferrari.

At some stage in their racing careers, eight of the drivers presently competing in Formula 1 have been affiliated with the Red Bull junior program.

The group of drivers includes Verstappen, Sainz, Gasly, Albon, Tsunoda, Hadjar, Lawson, and Jack Doohan.

Charles Leclerc secured the third spot in the drivers' rankings, while Carlos Sainz ended in fifth place. Together, they achieved victories in five grand prix races.

The addition of Hamilton for the 2025 season raises the stakes for the renowned Italian team, which has not secured a drivers' championship since Kimi Raikkonen's victory in 2007.

Rob Smedley, who previously worked as an engineer for Ferrari during their successful era, expressed his deep admiration for Lewis. Speaking on the Red Flags podcast, he highlighted his appreciation for both Lewis's contributions to the sport and his activities beyond it.

Aston Martin has refuted claims that they are planning a £1 billion agreement to acquire four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen.

According to information obtained by Crash.net, the Daily Mail's claim that Aston Martin is intensifying its attempts to recruit Red Bull's Verstappen is inaccurate.

Drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have agreements with Aston Martin that extend through the conclusion of 2026.

The pair assisted Aston Martin in achieving consecutive fifth-place results in the Formula 1 constructors' championship.

Adrian Newey is expected to join the team later this year, while Andy Cowell has taken over as the new team principal, positioning the Silverstone team strongly for the future.

There has been a lot of discussion about the possibility of Verstappen moving to Aston Martin, especially after Newey was signed and Honda was announced as their engine supplier for 2026.

As per the report, Aston Martin was ready to assemble a deal valued at £1 billion, which would have set a new world record and included offering Verstappen a stake in the company.

Max Verstappen is signed with Red Bull through the conclusion of 2028.

Despite ongoing interest from Mercedes over the past year, his future has remained unclear.

The ongoing issues away from the racetrack surrounding Christian Horner, along with Red Bull's decline in performance, sparked widespread rumors regarding Verstappen's career prospects.

Former F1 world champion Nico Rosberg has shared his thoughts on Max Verstappen possibly ending his racing career before his current contract concludes in 2028.

According to Nico Rosberg, there is a chance that Max Verstappen might choose to retire from Formula 1 earlier than expected.

Last season, Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive world championship title and is under contract with Red Bull until the conclusion of 2028.

Even with his achievements, the future of the 27-year-old Dutch driver has often been a subject of discussion, fueled by rumors that he might switch to a competing team like Mercedes or leave Formula 1 entirely.

In 2016, Rosberg revealed his unexpected retirement shortly after defeating his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to secure his inaugural world championship. He believes it wouldn't be shocking if Verstappen decided to end his career sooner than expected.

In an interview with the Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, the German remarked, "There's a chance. Even though Max is still young, he has accomplished a great deal."

"The demanding nature of Formula 1 impacts you both mentally and physically. If he believes he has accomplished his goals and seeks new experiences, I would respect his decision."

Nico Rosberg, whose father Keke won the world championship for Finland in 1982, emphasized that he does not regret his choice to retire at the age of 31, which he announced merely five days following his own championship victory.

Rosberg emphasized that he has no regrets, stating that he achieved his dream of becoming a world champion and decided to retire while he was at the top of his career.

"Upon retiring, I had the opportunity to dedicate more time to my family and embark on a career in investing. I made the decision that I believed was best for myself."

Verstappen has often suggested that he doesn't plan to stay in Formula 1 indefinitely. He has expressed interest in competing in the Le Mans 24 Hours race and exploring other sportscar racing series.

Max Verstappen shared with Dutch broadcaster Viaplay that his interests extend beyond just Formula 1. He expressed a desire to pursue various activities in the future and is already contemplating potential partners for these endeavors. However, he emphasized that he does not feel the need to make any immediate decisions regarding his future plans.

"I have several ambitions for life after Formula 1, such as participating in endurance racing and establishing my own team. There are numerous elements to consider in this process. Ultimately, a plan needs to be in place, and discussions are necessary to determine who will be part of this journey with me."

Several teams might be able to assist with this, including Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin. The solution doesn't necessarily have to be tied to Formula 1. Red Bull is another potential option, as they engage in numerous activities outside of Formula 1. Ultimately, I'm considering all possibilities and will decide on what seems most beneficial.
