Maverick Vinales Miraculously Escapes Serious Injury After High-Speed Crash at German MotoGP Qualifying
German MotoGP: Maverick Vinales' Condition Post-Qualifying Crash
Maverick Vinales was fortunate to avoid major harm following a significant highside crash during Saturday morning's qualifying round at the Sachsenring.
Maverick Vinales ended the Friday practice session at the German MotoGP leading the pack, as per the timesheets.
However, his aspirations for the leading spot were harshly dashed as he was catapulted over the handlebars of his Aprilia race bike at a speed of 150km/h while navigating Turn 10 during his last attempt.
Vinales gradually moved away and was observed kneeling before marshals assisted him, as his damaged RS-GP emitted smoke beside the track.
"After experiencing a crash in Q2, Maverick Viñales was subjected to a health assessment and diagnostic procedures at the track's medical facility," Aprilia announced.
"The imaging studies, including X-rays and ultrasounds, showed no breaks in the bones or damage to the ligaments and joints. It appears to be a case of blunt force injury."
An additional update confirmed: "Maverick has been deemed healthy."
Consequently, the victor at COTA will begin the race from the seventh position on the starting grid, yet the front row will feature two RS-GPs, piloted by Trackhouse team members Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, who were only surpassed by Jorge Martin in the qualifying round.
Aleix Espargaro, Vinales' teammate, pulled out of the Sachsenring race on Friday, citing discomfort from a hand injury he suffered at Assen the previous week.
