**Luca Marini Shines in German GP Sprint as Joan Mir Pulls Off Miraculous Save**
Luca Marini: “This is Just What We Needed” | Joan Mir: “The Best Save of My Life!”
Luca Marini: ‘This has been our top race to date… It’s exactly what we needed following the tough weekend in Assen’
Luca Marini has a final opportunity to score his initial Repsol Honda points in the German Grand Prix this afternoon before the MotoGP summer hiatus.
Finishing in 15th place once again during the Saturday Sprint would be enough for him, as the Italian secured the highest placement for RCV for the first time in a 15-lap race that had all participants complete the course.
Marini expressed great satisfaction with the race, calling it their best performance to date and saying he thoroughly enjoyed the entire Sprint. He completed the race 15.430 seconds behind the winner, Jorge Martin of Ducati, and recorded the fastest lap for Honda, just 0.796 seconds off the top mark set by Miguel Oliveira of Aprilia.
"I rode mainly behind Fabio and Diggia, and I felt confident that I could keep up with them. It was very encouraging to maintain this pace, and it validates our current approach to our work."
"This is precisely what we required following the tough weekend in Assen."
"I’m getting more comfortable with the bike, and we can see the improvements. There's still work ahead, but it’s crucial to appreciate these moments and give our best tomorrow."
Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami, who are team-mates in the LCR squad, were the top-performing Honda riders in 17th and 18th place respectively. They were trailed by wild-card entrant Stefan Bradl in 19th, and lastly, Joan Mir, who is a team-mate of Marini.
Throughout the weekend, Mir faced difficulties in finding an optimal set-up and ended up finishing in 21st place, one spot lower than his starting position.
The sole highlight was when Mir exclaimed, "I pulled off the save of my life today at Turn One! It was unbelievable, and I hope they can locate the footage."
"Following a challenging Friday, our mood was quite low after attempting some new strategies that didn't work out. However, the key takeaway is that we are continuously learning, which is crucial given our present circumstances."
"This evening, we will review the data from the other participants and adjust our setup for Sunday."
