Leclerc Declares No Mercy for Hamilton at Ferrari: A New Era of F1 Rivalry Begins
Charles Leclerc's firm stance on competing against Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari
"Absolutely not – the moment I put on my helmet, all of that is gone."
Charles Leclerc has shared his perspective on his mindset for when Lewis Hamilton becomes his team member in the following year.
Starting in 2025, Leclerc and Hamilton are set to become a formidable team at Ferrari, representing a mix of generations, with both drivers fiercely aiming to secure the F1 championship for themselves.
This challenge will examine Leclerc's resolve and compel Hamilton to show the extent of his remaining capabilities.
"Having Lewis join our team will be amazing," Lecerc shared with The Gentleman's Journal.
"Clearly, having the privilege to share a team with such an exceptional champion, driving the same model car as I do."
Initially, this presents an incredible chance to gain insights from one of the greatest to ever do it.
"Additionally, I see this as a fantastic chance for me to demonstrate my abilities, and I'm truly excited about it."
Spending every weekend on karting circuits during my childhood made it challenging to keep up with a Formula 1 season. However, I managed to catch a few races, and he was certainly among the drivers I admired.
"During my initial season in Formula 1, I was incredibly awed and felt quite daunted by the exceptional talent of the drivers around me, and Lewis stands out as possibly the finest among them. Having the opportunity to compete alongside him was an unbelievable experience."
Leclerc was questioned on whether he intends to 'go easy on the newcomer' when Hamilton joins Ferrari the following year.
"Absolutely not," he replied.
"Absolutely not, once the helmet is on, all of this stops."
"You transform, you stop considering identities and simply pursue it."
"Now that I'm competing against Lewis, it's essential for me to set aside the reputations of those in the paddock and concentrate solely on my own performance every time I hit the track."
Recently, Hamilton has turned back the clock, securing victories in two of the last three Grand Prix events.
Leclerc achieved a significant career achievement this season by finally clinching victory at his home grand prix in Monaco.
The recent advancements in Mercedes add an interesting twist to Hamilton's decision, as his present team is currently surpassing Ferrari in performance.
Hamilton triggered a departure provision from his Mercedes contract, which he inked last year, setting the stage for a monumental switch to Ferrari in 2025.
The move pairs the top driver in Formula 1's history with its most accomplished team.
Hamilton is set to compete into his 40s with the renowned Italian carmaker.
