Joan Mir’s Surprising Continuance with Repsol Honda: A New Two-Year Deal Amidst Challenges
Joan Mir and Honda Expected to Surprisingly Overcome Challenges in Their Partnership
It's anticipated that Joan Mir will soon announce unexpected developments
It is rumored that Joan Mir is set to ink a new deal to remain with Repsol Honda.
Motorsport has announced that Mir has secured a contract extension for two more years, which will keep him on board until the close of 2026.
The findings have come as a significant shock, given that Mir has faced considerable challenges during his time, spanning a season and a half, with Repsol Honda.
The champion of the 2020 MotoGP season switched to Honda following Suzuki's withdrawal from the championship, but has since experienced a difficult period.
The previous year was marred by numerous accidents. This year, following the departure of his teammate Marc Marquez, Mir has experienced fewer crashes but has consistently found himself at the back end of the grid.
This season, his top performance in the grand prix has been two twelfth-place finishes.
Mir's agreement with Honda was set to expire this year, and it appeared he was considering opportunities beyond the company.
"I'll hold off making a decision until I've seen all the proposals," he mentioned in Mugello.
He conceded, "Everyone exits Honda in a more improved state than when they initially joined."
"When I arrived at Honda, I was presented with numerous opportunities… Now, the situation has changed."
"I need to stand by for those who currently hold precedence."
This reflects the current truth. Your previous actions hold no significance.
"Currently, it's a select group of about 4-5 cyclists who are achieving notable outcomes, thus they are being given precedence."
It has now been confirmed by sources from Mir's native Spain that he has indeed decided to continue his association with the Honda project for an additional two years.
Official confirmation is still pending.
