Ducati’s Dall’Igna Awaits Pramac’s Decision Amid Yamaha’s Interest: The Race Against Time for a Continued Partnership
Gigi Dall’Igna Discusses Potential Departure from Pramac as Yamaha Shows Interest
"We evidently don't have control over the outcome"
Gigi Dall'Igna is keen on maintaining Ducati's partnership with Pramac.
Nonetheless, as a critical contractual deadline looms, the satellite group has yet to finalize their agreement with the manufacturer.
Yamaha is reportedly waiting in the wings with an enticing proposal to purchase Pramac.
"Dall'Igna, the general manager of Ducati, emphasized to Sky Italia that we are nearing the end as the window for making a decision is quickly closing."
"It's apparent that we don't have control over the outcome, so our only option is to be patient."
"Our relationship with Pramac is rooted in history. We've collaborated extensively and share a bond of friendship."
"I sincerely wish that Paolo Campinoti opts to remain."
The existing agreement between Pramac and Ducati, which positions Pramac as a secondary team to Ducati, is set to conclude this year. However, there is an option available until July 31 that allows for the continuation of their collaboration for an additional two years.
This allows Pramac to weigh their choices up until the final moment, should they choose to do so.
If they remain, they will keep receiving support through two standard-issue motorcycles. At the moment, Jorge Martin of Pramac is at the forefront of the MotoGP standings, riding a GP24.
However, Martin is set to join Aprilia, while Marc Marquez shifts from Gresini to the official team in the upcoming year. Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales have committed to KTM, leaving Pramac in search of a high-profile rider.
Franco Morbidelli's contract is set to expire at the end of this year. With Fermin Aldeguer transitioning from Moto2 to MotoGP as part of the Ducati team, he becomes a probable choice for Pramac if they continue into the next season.
Yet, their lack of communication has only fueled speculation that a change could be forthcoming.
Yamaha aims to expand its footprint in the 2025 grid by introducing a satellite team, effectively doubling its presence.
Gino Borsoi, the team leader of Pramac, is firmly convinced that his team will stick with Ducati for the upcoming season. However, until there's formal agreement fully executed and confirmed, Dall’Igna and his team will keep fretting over their team's future.
