Joan Mir Vows to Bounce Back from German MotoGP Setback Amid Honda’s Continuing Struggles
Joan Mir vows to keep pushing despite disastrous German MotoGP outing
Joan Mir, reflecting on his most challenging race in 2024: “This weekend needs to be a learning opportunity to grasp what went wrong and how we can prevent it moving forward.”
Joan Mir's difficulties with Honda hit a new nadir during the German MotoGP when he was outperformed by Stefan Bradl, Honda's test rider, who was later penalized after the race.
Mir concluded the race more than 43 seconds after victor Francesco Bagnaia and was also more than 17 seconds slower than the other three permanent Honda competitors.
Following his exits from the Italian and Dutch Grand Prix, completing the 30-lap race at Sachsenring marked progress, even though it might not seem so due to the performance challenges and problems he encountered.
Mir stated: "This weekend must be utilized to comprehend the recent occurrences and to devise strategies to prevent them in the future."
Once more, I found myself unable to tap into my complete capabilities, facing greater challenges than my fellow Honda competitors.
"The race was lengthy, challenging, and provided numerous learning opportunities. Both the team and I have started analyzing the data, and we've begun to formulate some strategies for improvements going forward."
"Our efforts continue unabated, as we strive and are determined to return to Silverstone with enhanced performance."
Across the garage, Luca Marini claimed his season's first point by finishing in 15th place, just 0.037 seconds after Takaaki Nakagami.
Despite facing significant challenges since joining Honda, Marini remained positive after the race, expressing satisfaction with the team's performance in the first half of the season and emphasizing the importance of their achievements thus far.
Certainly, the challenge caught me by surprise, but we're beginning to make positive changes now.
The hard work we put in during the initial races is beginning to yield results, and now it's time to anticipate the outcomes following the summer hiatus.
"Today, the distance to the lead is promising; while the circuit contributes, we're also progressing."
"All members of the Honda team are collaborating towards a common goal. Let's maintain this momentum following a brief pause."
