Joan Mir Vows Resilience After Challenging German MotoGP as Honda Seeks Turnaround
Joan Mir remains determined despite a disastrous German MotoGP, stating, "We need to analyze this weekend to figure out what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future," after enduring his toughest race of 2024.
Joan Mir and Honda faced even greater difficulties at the German MotoGP when he was outpaced by Stefan Bradl, who later received a penalty after the race.
Mir trailed race victor Francesco Bagnaia by more than 43 seconds and was also more than 17 seconds behind each of the other three full-time Honda competitors.
Following his failures at the Italian and Dutch Grand Prix, completing the 30-lap race at Sachsenring marked progress, even though it might not seem so due to his performance problems and other challenges.
Mir stated, "It's crucial for us to utilize this weekend to analyze the situation and determine how to prevent it from occurring again."
"Once more, I couldn't reach my maximum capability and found myself having a harder time compared to the other Honda riders."
"A lengthy and challenging race provided many learning opportunities. My team and I have already reviewed the data and have some thoughts on potential improvements for the future."
"We continue our efforts, persist in our endeavors, and strive to return to Silverstone with greater strength."
In the garage's opposite corner, Luca Marini earned his initial point for the season by securing 15th place, trailing Takaaki Nakagami by just 0.037 seconds.
Although the beginning of his journey with Honda has been extremely challenging, Marini remained positive after the race, stating: “Overall, I am pleased with our performance in the first half of the year, which is the most crucial aspect.”
“Admittedly, I didn't anticipate facing so many difficulties, but we're beginning to make progress now."
"The hard work we've put in since the beginning of the season is beginning to yield results, and we now need to look ahead to what will happen after the summer break."
"The difference from first place today is positive; the track conditions contribute, but we're seeing progress."
"The entire team at Honda is united and moving forward together. Let's continue this momentum after a brief pause."
