Hulkenberg Penalized: Drops to 8th After Tyre Mix-Up in German GP Qualifying
Hulkenberg penalized, moves from 7th to 8th on the grid
Due to an error in tyre allocation during qualifying, Nico Hulkenberg received a penalty, resulting in a one-position drop for the German Grand Prix.
The Force India driver utilized tires during Q1 that were supposed to be given back to Pirelli after the third practice session due to a mistake, leading to a violation of Article 24.3 e) of the Sporting Regulations.
Due to an error where the team 'electronically returned the incorrect set of tyres' used in Q1, Hulkenberg, who initially qualified seventh, will now start from eighth position on the grid. As a result, Valtteri Bottas will move up to seventh place.
Prior to the announcement of the decision, Hulkenberg expressed satisfaction with his performance, noting that he ranked highest among the competitors outside of those from Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari.
"It was a successful and pleasant day. I believe finishing in seventh place was the best possible outcome we could have aimed for and accomplished today. We're only trailing the top three teams, which is a positive result."
