There's been a rise in the count of start-ups, from 3,184 in 2019 to 4,257 in 2023. These new businesses encompass a range of industries, such as financial technology, biotechnology, and logistics.
Undoubtedly, these startups have generated employment and enhanced Hong Kong's standing as a center for creativity and tech advancements. Yet, the future prosperity of these companies is uncertain, considering that comparable competing startups could spring up in other locations like Singapore, which also boasts similar mechanisms, such as the Economic Development Board, to foster innovation.
