Hamilton’s British GP Victory: Mark Webber Hails ‘Beast Mode’ Performance as a Triumph of Resilience and Skill
Mark Webber, a former Red Bull F1 driver, has lavished Lewis Hamilton with abundant accolades after his victory at the British Grand Prix.
Ex-Red Bull Formula 1 racer Mark Webber has lavished compliments on Lewis Hamilton after his victory at the British Grand Prix, an event held in Hamilton's own country.
Hamilton secured his first F1 win in more than two years, crossing the finish line first on Sunday.
The seven-time world champion celebrated his first victory since the intense defeat at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton's win came with a lot of emotional baggage, as he opened up about the psychological struggles he faced following the challenging conclusion of the 2021 season, which was quickly succeeded by a significant downturn in Mercedes' performance.
Webber, a former Red Bull driver from 2007 to 2013 with nine victories, portrayed Hamilton as operating at an incredibly high level, likening him to a shark in its natural marine habitat.
"Webber described it as full-on aggression on familiar ground," he mentioned on Channel 4. "I believe it was during the latter part of the initial phase when there was chatter about impending rain, and that's when he really sensed an opportunity. It's akin to a shark sensing blood in the water.
"[Hamilton contemplates his position] I have chances available to me here. My intention is to challenge those in my surroundings. My experience is vast, and I possess a rich history of achievements."
He took firm control of the race, making crucial choices and leading the team effectively. He clearly stated his desires and timing, committing to fulfilling them with a level-headed approach.
"I'm a huge admirer of Lewis. I mentioned that he's been on the edge of achieving significant outcomes, questioning 'Where's his drive? Where's his spark?' However, once he catches a glimpse of an opportunity like the one we witnessed, just watch him go."
Hamilton currently holds the record for the highest number of F1 victories, having crossed the finish line first in 104 races, and has secured seven championships, establishing him as the most accomplished
Nonetheless, Webber acknowledged that though Hamilton has achieved a lot in F1, this recent victory will eliminate any lingering uncertainties he had about his ability to compete at the highest level of the sport.
"Webber emphasized the significance of this achievement for someone as accomplished as him, stating, 'For someone of his stature, it's incredibly substantial.' He pointed out that despite having a trophy collection featuring more than 100 victories, he still experiences that obsessive quest for perfection and those minor uncertainties that figures like Rafa Nadal mention, wondering, 'Am I still capable of this?'"
"Given the already lofty expectations, when he raises the bar, be prepared to witness a monumental milestone in his existence."
"This might have been his final victory, but from the moment the race started, he took charge and successfully completed the task."
