### “Hamilton Questions Verstappen’s ‘Not Realistic’ F1 Title Doubts Amid Intense Season
Lewis Hamilton comments on Max Verstappen's 'unrealistic' F1 championship assertion.
Lewis Larkam reports from Baku on Hamilton's opinion regarding the "unrealistic" statement.
Lewis Hamilton has expressed skepticism regarding Max Verstappen’s assertion that his prospects of securing the F1 world championship are “unrealistic”.
Triple world champion Verstappen started the season strongly with seven wins in the first 10 races, but has gone winless in the last six races due to Red Bull's recent difficulties.
Max Verstappen continues to maintain a 62-point advantage over Lando Norris, with Red Bull only narrowly leading McLaren by eight points in the constructors' championship. Following a sixth-place finish at the Italian Grand Prix, the Dutch driver sought to minimize expectations regarding his chances for the title.
"Currently, neither championship is attainable," he remarked.
"I've spoken extensively, and now it's the team's responsibility to implement significant changes to the car. We went from having an extremely dominant vehicle to one that's almost impossible to drive within just six to eight months. This situation is very strange to me, and we need to completely overhaul the car."
"Given our current situation, we are struggling in every aspect, so we require numerous changes."
Prior to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend, Hamilton was questioned about his perspective on the remarks made by his 2021 championship contender.
"He mentioned that aiming for either of the two titles isn't realistic for him," Hamilton informed reporters, including those from Crash.net, in Baku.
"That's clearly his perspective and his emotions at that moment, but he's quite a bit ahead," the seven-time world champion remarked with a laugh.
Following Red Bull's troubling beginning to the season, six different competitors have claimed victory in the last seven races.
Hamilton, victorious in two races at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps, described the present competitive environment in F1 as “incredible”.
“This is the intended outcome. I believe that was likely the objective when they established the regulations, but it never pans out,” he clarified.
"It's fantastic that we've reached a point where McLaren is performing exceptionally well, Ferrari clinched a victory in the most recent race, and we had our success just prior to that."
"I’m hopeful that in the upcoming eight races, we’ll see something similar and that it remains steady, I hope."
