Franco Morbidelli’s Shocking Confession: Memory Loss and Family Unrecognition After Preseason Testing Crash
Franco Morbidelli's Shocking Admission: "I Lost My Memory and Couldn’t Recognize My Family"
Franco Morbidelli reveals new details about his preseason testing accident.
Franco Morbidelli has disclosed startling new information about his accident during preseason testing that occurred nine months prior.
In January, Morbidelli had an accident on a Ducati Panigale V4 in Portimao, and the Marquez brothers quickly came to help him.
The incident disrupted Morbidelli’s initial attempts to transition from Yamaha to Pramac Ducati, but he has now admitted that the consequences were much more severe.
"I couldn't remember anything for two weeks," he revealed to La Reppublica.
“I couldn't identify individuals who were very dear to me, significant relatives. It felt unbelievable, but still…
"I was overwhelmed by every possible fear."
"Luckily, we noticed that recollections and clarity were gradually coming back."
“Day by day, with each new detail, my brain began to work like it used to.”
Morbidelli was coming out of two difficult years riding a Yamaha.
Joining Pramac Ducati, which boasts the top motorcycle in MotoGP, offered him a significant opportunity to rejuvenate his career.
However, his crash during preseason testing set him back. Following the accident, he was unable to participate in the tests held in Sepang and Qatar.
"After enduring two challenging years with Yamaha, receiving such a setback makes you think it's the last straw," Morbidelli stated.
"But I clenched my jaw."
Morbidelli managed to secure a top-10 finish by the fifth race. This year, he has placed within the top 10 in four grand prix events.
In 2025, he is set to leave Pramac and join the VR46 team, reconnecting with Valentino Rossi's group and enabling him to keep riding a Ducati from the previous year.
