Fisker Ocean EV Owners Find Solace in Newly Announced Service Network Amidst Bankruptcy Turmoil
North American Fisker Ocean EV owners now have the assurance of a dedicated network of authorized repair facilities at their disposal.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Fisker Owners Association (FOA), following a period of several months spent searching for service providers willing to assist Ocean model owners who were previously left without support.
The initial network of Fisker repair facilities, which will also manage recall issues, encompasses 20 sites across the United States and an additional three in Canada. Updates will be continuously provided through the provided link, which also indicates that the establishment of service locations in Europe is currently underway.
A crucial element, as stated by the FOA, was the availability of Fisker's exclusive diagnostic equipment, known as FAST, which is essential for maintaining the cars.

This encouraging update could provide Fisker vehicle owners with the confidence that their electric cars will remain functional over time, albeit with some continued dedication.
It remains uncertain how much money car owners will need to shell out for maintenance, particularly concerning the safety recall fixes that, by federal law, should be covered by the manufacturer. In the early part of the month, a statement on the website of the now-bankrupt car company hinted that the cost for recall fixes would fall on the car owners. This led to criticism due to the potential legal violations, prompting Fisker to revise their wording to include free labor. However, in a subsequent update to their website on September 23, Fisker altered their stance once more, indicating that customers will have to bear the labor costs for the repairs related to the water pump issue and the door handle safety recall.
Fisker, which is headquartered in California, sought bankruptcy protection in Delaware back in June. The proceedings are progressing under Chapter 11, which fortunately means the company must continue some level of operations during this period and devise a strategy to pay back its creditors. Lately, there has been a surge of legal filings from creditors claiming their dues, and the court has given the green light to sell off Fisker's unencumbered assets.
2023 Model of the Fisker Ocean,
It seems highly unlikely that the once anticipated Ocean EV from the brand will be manufactured again, considering the circumstances surrounding its inception, progression, and manufacturing process. It relied on Magna Steyr in Austria to handle the actual production under contract, but it was discovered through documents from a recall that Magna's engineering fees had not been completely settled. Fisker oversaw the software coordination and different elements of vehicle integration. When Fisker went bankrupt, it was reported that the company might owe as much as half a billion dollars.
An article in Automotive News revealed that over 800 individuals have enlisted the services of Hagens Berman, the same legal team that previously acted on behalf of VW TDI owners and dealers during the company's diesel emissions debacle.
