Fernando Alonso receives an Aston Martin Valkyrie from Adrian Newey
The Aston Martin Valkyrie, crafted by F1 icon Adrian Newey, has been bestowed upon Fernando Alonso.
Fernando Alonso has received an Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, a masterpiece designed by the iconic F1 figure Adrian Newey.
Adorned in Aston Martin's signature racing green color scheme, complete with a personalized license plate and custom details showcasing his racing number #14, Alonso took the Valkyrie for a spin from the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel on Wednesday.
Each seat of the hybrid 6.5-liter, V12-engine hypercar, valued at £2.3 million, features Alonso's distinctive emblem stitched into it.
The Valkyrie boasts a peak power output of 1,155 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds.
"Expressing my anticipation for today has been challenging," said Alonso, who has clinched the world championship twice, when discussing the car.
"Having the chance to be behind the wheel of my personal Valkyrie, a project that I've been intimately involved in crafting alongside the team at Q by Aston Martin, is definitely an unforgettable experience."
"The Valkyrie exemplifies a Formula 1 vehicle designed for street use, incorporating a wealth of expertise and tech derived from Aston Martin's extensive racing background. I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to take it out on the road."
Technicians at Aston Martin's Gaydon headquarters in the UK have meticulously handcrafted 150 Valkyrie vehicles.
Newey, the genius responsible for the design, is poised to be revealed as partnering with Alonso at Aston Martin before the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix next week.
Should the rumored £20m agreement be confirmed, the Valkyrie will represent the initial vehicle crafted by the 65-year-old British designer that Alonso will pilot.
Aston Martin seems to have secured Newey's expertise, outpacing competitors such as Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams.
