Fabio di Giannantonio’s German MotoGP Exit: Puncture to Blame, Not Injury
'Extremely risky to keep going' – Fabio di Giannantonio discusses his German MotoGP withdrawal.
Fabio di Giannantonio: 'The pressure dropped, and I received a warning signal on the dashboard; it became extremely risky to continue.'
Fabio di Giannantonio had to cut his German MotoGP race short, entering the pits on the ninth lap while he was in twelfth position.
Following his significant crash during practice, there was speculation that his physical state may have led to his first failure to finish in a grand prix this season.
However, Diggia later clarified, "My shoulder felt improved today thanks to the excellent work of the physiotherapist."
A puncture incident led to a swift drop in rear tire pressure, setting off an alert on his dashboard.
"The beginning of the race wasn't ideal, yet I managed to stay with the pack. However, out of nowhere, I began losing traction in the back. We're currently analyzing the data to understand what went wrong," he stated.
"I experienced a drop in pressure and received a warning on the dashboard, making it too risky to proceed. While the tire looks fine externally, we can't eliminate the possibility of an issue with the rim."
"I regret ending the first part of the season on this note, but overall, things have been going well."
Fabio di Giannantonio, currently ranked eighth in the world championship and the second-highest performing GP23 rider just behind Marc Marquez, is expected to remain with the VR46 team next season and receive an upgrade to factory-spec equipment.
