According to Jacques Villeneuve, it is Lewis Hamilton's "hunger" that is primarily driving the extension of his Formula 1 career, rather than his age.
Earlier this month, Hamilton celebrated his 40th birthday and is now beginning a fresh chapter with Ferrari for the next season.
Since the 1990s, no Formula 1 driver has managed to secure a grand prix victory in their 40s, a feat Hamilton aims to achieve with his new team.
Next week, Hamilton is anticipated to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari for the first time after spending a day in the simulator.
According to reports, the seven-time world champion is expected to get behind the wheel of Ferrari's 2022 race car, the F1-75.
In an interview with Action Network, a Canadian individual discussed Lewis Hamilton's situation, questioning whether Hamilton possesses the same drive as Fernando Alonso. This person noted that Hamilton is eager for another championship title, ideally with Ferrari, which should motivate him. However, they wondered if, when faced with challenges, Hamilton would continue to fight like Alonso or decide to pursue a different path in life.
"From a physical standpoint, there's nothing wrong. He's extremely fit and strong, capable of continuing for another decade without any concerns. However, the real challenge lies in his mindset and motivation."
Hamilton’s age is not a concern
Villeneuve pointed out that Hamilton’s ex-teammate, Nico Rosberg, eventually lost his passion for Formula 1, prompting him to retire.
"In sports, age isn't the main concern," he mentioned. "What's crucial is your mental readiness to commit entirely, to undergo all the training, to maintain a disciplined routine, and to remain focused solely on the sport. Eventually, there might come a time when it no longer holds the same significance or priority in your life. That's when performance can decline—not due to a direct physical cause."

The CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna, has announced that Lewis Hamilton is set to visit the team's Formula 1 headquarters next week, a development that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
In what is considered the most significant driver move in the history of Formula 1, Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, has left Mercedes to become part of the Ferrari
The announcement, made in February, surprised everyone in the racing community, as it brought together Formula 1's most renowned team with the sport's most accomplished driver. Over the last year, this collaboration has been a hot topic of discussion.
In the midst of the excitement and buzz about Hamilton's debut at Ferrari, Italian media outlets have identified Monday, January 20, as the date when the 40-year-old British driver will make his initial visit to the team's headquarters in Maranello.
Later in the week, Hamilton is anticipated to take an older Ferrari model for a spin as part of his efforts to integrate into his new team.
During a press conference in Milan that introduced a collaboration between Ferrari and UniCredit, Vigna refrained from providing specific dates but did confirm that Hamilton's first appearance in Maranello is scheduled for next week.
"There is a significant buzz and eagerness to get started," Vigna stated. "Lewis is scheduled to join us at Ferrari next week. We're finalizing the remaining details."

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Aston Martin was ready to make a record-breaking offer to secure Verstappen.
Aston Martin told Crash.net that the report was false.
Verstappen's team has not commented, responding evasively to GP Blog.
They replied by saying, "That's pleasant."
Is it possible for Verstappen to become part of the Aston Martin team down the line? At present, Verstappen is committed to Red Bull with a contract that extends through the end of 2028.
Nonetheless, his prospects with Red Bull have been unclear because of significant interest from Toto Wolff and Mercedes.
The issues surrounding Christian Horner away from the racing circuit, along with Red Bull's recent decline in performance, have fueled rumors regarding Verstappen's potential departure from the team.

Liam Lawson Faces High-Stakes Test Against Max Verstappen: Proving Mental Fortitude at Red Bull in 2025
Liam Lawson has been challenged to demonstrate his "mental strength" when competing with Max Verstappen at Red Bull. "This represents a significant opportunity for Lawson, but history has shown that drivers who are immediately placed in the main team often struggle and fail swiftly."
Jacques Villeneuve, the Formula 1 world champion from 1997, thinks that Liam Lawson will have to show his "mental toughness" when he competes against Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2025.
Following only 11 races in Formula 1, Lawson was selected to take over for Sergio Perez at Red Bull.
This implies that Lawson faces the toughest challenge in Formula 1, as he competes alongside Verstappen on the same team.
In recent years, Verstappen has outperformed Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, and Perez, and Lawson is poised to face him next.
With not much experience in Formula 1 and Red Bull losing ground at the end of the previous year, Lawson is expected to face an even greater challenge in 2025.
In an interview with Action Network, Villeneuve mentioned that Liam Lawson has a significant opportunity ahead of him. However, he noted that drivers who are immediately placed in the main team often struggle and falter swiftly.
"We'll have to assess his mental toughness and actual skill level since it's still uncertain at this point. His performance in F2, his time in Japan, and his races against Tsunoda shouldn't be used as a definitive measure."
According to the terms of his contract, Lawson's role is to assist Verstappen. However, mentally, Lawson is focused on the idea of taking Max's place. Therefore, he aims to be both competitive and fast.
"It is hoped that this will apply pressure on Max, encouraging him to enhance his driving skills, ultimately benefiting the team's advancement."
Villeneuve has given Lawson a goal for 2025. Red Bull expects Lawson to perform significantly better than the person he is replacing.
Perez's streak of subpar performances led to Red Bull slipping to third place in the F1 constructors' championship, marking their lowest placement since 2019.
Villeneuve believes that Lawson should target finishing just one or two positions behind Verstappen in the 2025 season.
He stated that if the car isn't capable of securing a championship victory, then the goal must be to finish in second place or not at all. For Lawson, a strong result would mean ending up either directly behind Verstappen or two positions behind him.
"Nothing beyond that. Winning races significantly boosts your points total, as there's a large gap between first and second place. However, if you finish in third, fourth, or fifth, the difference in points is minimal."

Andy Cowell, recently named as the team principal for Aston Martin, has provided insights into a significant reorganization planned before the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Aston Martin revealed last week that Cowell would immediately assume the responsibilities of team principal alongside his current role as chief executive officer.
The British individual, aged 55, has taken over the role previously held by Mike Krack. Krack has been reassigned to a new trackside position that concentrates on performance enhancement.
Tom McCullough, formerly responsible for trackside operations as the performance director, is transitioning to a different position within the broader organization.
Aston Martin stated that the modifications aim to establish a more "horizontal" leadership framework.
Aston Martin ended the season in fifth place in the constructors' championship for the second consecutive year. This time around, drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll managed to secure just 94 points. This was a significant drop from the 280 points they collected in 2023, a season that began with Aston Martin posing a strong challenge to Red Bull right after the winter break.
Cowell, known for his expertise in Mercedes' F1 engines throughout the team's dominant period in the V6 hybrid era, mentioned that the modifications were implemented following several months of assessing the team's performance and their working practices.
In an interview on Aston Martin's official website, Cowell stated that the modifications aim to enhance both the clarity within the organization and the performance of the race car.
"We decided to split the Aerodynamics, Engineering, and Performance Departments into distinct teams, with some focusing on trackside activities and others operating from the AMR Technology Campus."
The group working at the track will be headed by Mike [Krack], who has taken on the position of Chief Trackside Officer. Enrico [Cardile] will oversee the other team as the Chief Technical Officer. Both will be accountable to me.
This reorganization allows Mike's group to concentrate on optimizing the car's performance at each Grand Prix, while Enrico's group can dedicate their efforts to the intricate task of designing a new race car.
Aston Martin views the creation of a successful team as their guiding principle. The team has high hopes of competing for the championship titles in the near future. They aim to take advantage of the new engine and design rules set to be implemented in Formula 1 starting in 2026.
Team owner Lawrence Stroll, known for his ambitious vision, has invested millions into the initiative, which includes establishing a new campus at Silverstone that Aston Martin relocated to in 2023.
A cutting-edge wind tunnel is expected to be functional by 2026, and Aston Martin has arranged for Honda to be their sole supplier of power units starting that season.
Renowned Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey is set to become the managing technical partner starting in March. Meanwhile, Enrico Cardile, who previously led the chassis department at Ferrari, will assume the role of chief technical officer.
"Our ultimate goal is to create a team capable of winning a World Championship. Every conversation we have is focused on what it will take to turn this dream into a reality," stated Cowell.
