Sources indicate that users of AI chips in mainland China have been unofficially suggested to favour local options, such as those produced by Huawei.

According to another informant, there were no limitations on H20 orders placed by businesses from the mainland as of August.

News first surfaced in May about China's unspoken restrictions on the American chip design company, as documented by US tech outlet, The Information. It was reported that regulatory authorities had requested local firms to reduce their procurement of Nvidia chips in favor of purchasing more from national providers such as Huawei. A recent article from Bloomberg also suggested that China has been urging local purchasers to avoid Nvidia.

Nvidia remained silent and did not provide any comments regarding the alleged restrictions in China.
