Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and Jingyuan county in Gansu province announced on Monday that they have established dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.
"The findings of the inquiry and the management of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly," stated the authorities in Golmud.
"Individuals accountable for the crimes will face strict penalties as mandated by law."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
