Binder Calls for KTM Improvements After MotoGP Mid-Season Struggles: A League Apart
"Brad Binder calls for improvements at KTM, stating 'We must discover a breakthrough since the competitors leading us are on a different level.'"
Brad Binder is confident that KTM has identified a solid path forward as the MotoGP enters its summer hiatus.
Despite securing a ninth-place finish at the German Grand Prix, Binder experienced a significant improvement in his performance on the RC16, thanks to major adjustments made to his motorcycle from Saturday onwards.
Heading into the last lap in seventh place, Binder slipped up in the final sector, a mistake that Pedro Acosta capitalized on, overtaking him and thereby becoming the leading KTM rider in the contest.
"Significant adjustments were implemented for today's competition, especially during the warm-up," Binder remarked. "The motorcycle's performance significantly improved, making it easier to control. These adjustments contributed to a major improvement in handling for the race, enhancing our ability to turn."
"The bicycle showed some improvement in braking, yet it's evident we must discover a solution, as the competitors in front were operating at an entirely different level."
"The narrative hasn't changed from the past several races. We must discover additional speed to keep up with the leading competitors."
"I believe we've gathered essential insights and implemented significant alterations to determine our future course of action, particularly to maintain our performance throughout a race."
The race was unfolding in a fairly standard manner until the final lap, when I experienced a loss of control at the front while descending the waterfall section, which resulted in me dropping down two places.
"Less than perfect, but I prefer dropping two spots over heading into the summer vacation feeling defeated."
Talking about his competition, Acosta confessed that it was challenging, as he experienced yet another hard weekend in general.
The GASGAS competitor managed a respectable recovery to finish seventh, yet once again, both he and KTM were left without a solution to counteract the dominance of Ducati and Miguel Oliveira's Aprilia.
Acosta stated, "Overall, the race was challenging, especially after a weekend of facing several problems. However, facing these difficulties might be beneficial as I'm heading to the factory in Austria next week, where we can tackle these issues collectively."
"Generally, we're pleased with the season's first half. We've seen improvements in each round, but there's still much to achieve!"
