Binder and Miller Grapple with Understeer Woes as KTMs Struggle at German MotoGP
Brad Binder and Jack Miller highlight a common issue with their KTM bikes.
"I struggled during the first half of the race, up until the rear tire started to wear down."
During the sprint race at the German MotoGP on Saturday, Brad Binder and Jack Miller both faced challenges with understeer.
Binder ended up in eighth place, while Jack Miller secured the 11th spot.
Augusto Fernandez from Tech3 finished in 16th place, while Pedro Acosta ended up in the last position after veering off the track during the final moments.
Binder stated that adjustments were made prior to the race in order to improve the front performance.
"This weekend, we've been dealing with understeer issues. Every time we try to accelerate, we experience a lack of turning responsiveness and face significant understeer."
"The front tire endured significant strain."
"During the competition, we needed to make an effort to stabilize the situation somewhat."
"The brakes functioned effectively, and the entry process went smoothly."
“We took a small step forward. Hopefully, we can take another one on Sunday.”
Miller mentioned, "We had a fairly good beginning. The qualifying session didn’t go as expected; we were slightly off with our timing…"
"However, I managed to begin well. I was positioned closely with Brad, Marc, and others."
"I struggled during the first part of the race, up until the back tire began to wear down.
"At that moment, I realized I could truly be myself."
“At the start of the race, the bike was experiencing significant understeer.”
I did my utmost to care for it.
"When the back section lowered, I was able to handle the front more effectively and make some maneuvers."
"It was a fun and competitive duel with Diggia, Raul, and the others during the final laps. I managed to come out on top, which felt great. It was enjoyable to be in the mix with them."
The KTM factory team has mostly been overshadowed by the impressive newcomer Acosta this season.
Binder has not managed to repeat his podium finish from the season opener, whereas Miller's best performance this year was a fifth-place finish at Portimao.
Sunday’s race at the Sachsenring presents Binder with a chance to showcase his performance from the previous year once again. Meanwhile, Miller aims to secure a contract for 2025 with another team after being edged out by KTM.
