Aprilia Optimistic Despite Challenges as Bezzecchi Joins Martin in 2025 MotoGP Line-Up
Aprilia acknowledges that losing "two riders is not ideal," but maintains that "we must stay positive." Massimo Rivola expresses that there are significant expectations for Aprilia's latest addition, Marco Bezzecchi, after successfully recruiting him from Ducati.
In 2025, Marco Bezzecchi will join the factory Aprilia MotoGP team, creating a strong lineup alongside Jorge Martin, who is also departing Ducati for the Noale-based manufacturer.
On Monday, Bezzecchi inked a deal with the Italian manufacturer, marking his departure from the VR46 team to join the MotoGP ranks as a factory rider for the first time.
The year 2024 has turned out to be quite a challenging one for Bezzecchi, especially after an outstanding performance in his second season of MotoGP in 2023.
Despite ongoing difficulties in adjusting to the GP23 bike, Rivola remains optimistic about the Italian rider, who was a strong title contender for a significant portion of the previous season.
Rivola mentioned that the rider is transitioning from a highly competitive bike but emphasized that the positive aspect is his eagerness to join their team and ride their bike.
"He recognized the promise in our bicycle and believes he can achieve a strong performance with it."
“I believe he will perform well. He might require a little time initially to adjust, but I am confident he will be quick shortly.”
Although Martin and Bezzecchi might form a competitive pair against Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez at Lenovo Ducati, it's important to note that Aprilia's team will be unfamiliar with the RS-GP.
This might affect their initial performance, however, Rivola stays hopeful even though he admits that switching both main riders is 'not ideal.'
Rivola mentioned, "It's not perfect to switch out both riders. Usually, maintaining the same team leads to better results, but with two talents like these, you have to stay hopeful and be prepared to compete for the championship."
"We possess two of the most exceptional talents from recent seasons, and we have no justification for not providing them with the top-quality bike they deserve."
