2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS: Luxe EV Sedan Boosts Range and Braking for $105,550
The latest model of the Mercedes-Benz EQS, an electric four-door car, receives several enhancements for its third year on the market. This updated electric vehicle is set to hit the American market in the initial six months of 2025, with a price tag of $105,550, which encompasses a delivery fee of $1,150.
Mercedes has introduced an upgraded battery pack for its entire range, boasting a capacity of 118.0 kWh, which marks a 9% enhancement over the existing 108.4 kWh capacity. The company assures that this will lead to better mileage, although no new official figures from the EPA have been disclosed yet. With the current EQS model hitting up to 352 miles on the single-motor rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+ variant, this improvement could potentially push the range to over 400 miles, assuming additional advancements in efficiency.
Mercedes boasts about the introduction of an updated regenerative braking system that enhances energy recuperation, in addition to modifications in the braking elements designed to refine the sensation of the brake pedal—a major point of critique in reviews of the EQS. These updates follow last year's adjustments to the braking system of the EQS and its smaller counterpart, the EQE, which also included the addition of heat pumps.
Upcoming 2025 model of the Mercedes-Benz
The EQS features decorative elements such as a faux grille and an emblem on the hood, lending it an appearance reminiscent of conventional Mercedes-Benz models, such as the S-Class. Initially, the EQS established its unique aesthetic and luxury akin to the S-Class, complete with a distinctive hatchback design. Thus, it's peculiar to observe it mimicking the traditional S-Class aesthetic.
Within the vehicle, the Executive Interior Package enhances the experience for those seated in the back through amenities such as quickly warming seats, heat targeted at the neck and shoulders, and the ability to pneumatically alter the rear seat's depth for optimal comfort. For the 2024 version of the EQS, Mercedes has included the expansive Hyperscreen display as a standard feature.
During a February briefing, Mercedes' chief executive, Ola Källenius, revealed plans for an update to the EQS model. This announcement also included a push back on some of the firm's electric vehicle goals, indicating that traditional gasoline-powered vehicles would continue to be part of their offerings deep into the 2030s.
2025 Model of Mercedes-Benz EQS
Mercedes accelerated the creation process of the EQS back in 2017, resulting in its debut well ahead of schedule. Following the EQS, Mercedes introduced both the sedan and SUV variants of the EQE, all built on the identical EVA 2 platform. The car manufacturer has indicated that these additional vehicles will also receive comparable enhancements shortly.
The car manufacturer's upcoming MMA framework is set to support a variety of small and medium-sized electric vehicles that are expected to hit the market later this year. Initially introduced with the Concept CLA-Class the previous year, the MMA focuses on energy-saving features and boasts several upgrades from the EVA 2 framework, such as a more powerful 800-volt electrical system.
