Zak Brown Shuts Down Rumors: Adrian Newey Won’t Return to McLaren, Eyes Set on Current Team’s Success
One of the appealing opportunities for Adrian Newey has been decisively dismissed. Zak Brown has affirmed that Adrian Newey will not be making a comeback to McLaren.
McLaren's CEO Zak Brown has dismissed the possibility of a dramatic move to acquire Red Bull's Formula 1 design expert Adrian Newey.
Following the announcement of his exit from Red Bull prior to this year's Miami Grand Prix, Newey has been associated with numerous other teams.
Sources indicate that Newey has been in discussions with Aston Martin and Ferrari. Additionally, a potential move back to McLaren was suggested due to his strong relationship with Brown.
The Formula 1 designer is set to depart from Red Bull by early 2025, but the team he will be joining remains unknown.
During a conversation with the BBC, Brown stated that Newey will not be coming back to Woking in 2025.
Brown stated that they have no plans to sign Adrian. He expressed his satisfaction with the current team, acknowledging Adrian as a close friend with immense talent and an impressive track record.
"Given our current resources and setup, I am extremely satisfied. We're fully capable of completing the task."
"I'm pleased with our current racing team and we're aiming to secure the world championship with the members we have right now."
Considering McLaren's impressive comeback over the past year and a half, it's no wonder that Brown has confidence in his present design team.
McLaren has transformed from being at the bottom of the standings to leading the race for this year's constructors' championship.
Anticipating the championship fight, Brown commented, "It's going to be a fierce competition. I believe all four teams—Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari—will be slugging it out."
"Expect thrilling showdowns. There are eight drivers capable of winning at nearly any track, making it an exhilarating event."
