**”Williams Eyes Carlos Sainz for 2025: A Strategic Bid for F1 Dominance”**
Williams has revealed that they are in discussions with Carlos Sainz, stating their desire to have two top-tier drivers.
Williams team principal James Vowles has revealed that they have engaged in significant discussions with Carlos Sainz regarding a potential switch for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Carlos Sainz remains the key figure in the Formula 1 driver market after another opportunity closed for the Spaniard due to Sergio Perez's announcement prior to this weekend.
The present Ferrari driver seems to have two distinct choices: either become part of the Audi initiative with Sauber or team up with Williams.
Carlos Sainz has a minor possibility of becoming part of the Mercedes team, but it appears that Toto Wolff prefers Andrea Kimi Antonelli as an alternative if he cannot secure a deal with Max Verstappen.
Williams might turn out to be Sainz’s top choice, especially since they are set to use Mercedes engines in 2026. Rumors indicate that Mercedes will have the superior power units once the new regulations come into effect.
During a conversation on Friday at the Canadian Grand Prix, Vowles elaborated on the reasons behind Williams' interest in Sainz and highlighted how this signifies a shift in the team's strategy.
"Why did I choose Williams? Let me explain," he stated. "There’s a specific reason for my presence here. The Williams of today is not the same as it was three years ago."
"The very act of discussing matters with Carlos is indicative of our shift in strategy. Our goal is to have two top-tier drivers on our team moving forward. We aim to demonstrate our commitment to being at the forefront by making substantial investments."
"In 2026, our car will feature one of the top power units, potentially the very best. We plan to make an official announcement soon, and over the past year, we've successfully recruited approximately 30 exceptional individuals from various other teams to join our organization."
“The world is evolving, and Carlos would play a significant role in the broader context of our current situation.”
"Naturally, the decision of whether or not to come here is entirely up to him."
Williams is expected to have a solid team even if Sainz does not become a member.
Valtteri Bottas, who has secured victory in 10 races, is strongly associated with this position.
When questioned about whether Sainz was persuaded by Williams' offer, Vowles responded by saying, "It's difficult to determine. I believe he recognizes all the advantages. Obviously, I might be biased since I represent Williams, but I think choosing to join us is straightforward. Ultimately, though, the choice is his."
