Valtteri Bottas Faces Uncertainty Over 2025 F1 Future: ‘It Can Start to Become Nerve Racking’
Valtteri Bottas admits uncertainty about his future in F1: "It can get quite stressful"
"We still need to be patient for a while. I don't have a definite answer yet."
Valtteri Bottas remains uncertain about which team he will be racing for in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Valtteri Bottas' future remains uncertain as he awaits a decision from Carlos Sainz.
The driver, who has secured 10 F1 grand prix victories, is reportedly a top contender for a position at Williams. He is also being considered for a potential continuation with Sauber or a switch to Alpine.
In a discussion before the Hungarian Grand Prix, attended by Crash.net, Bottas candidly revealed that he is still "waiting" for updates.
"Possibly waiting for Carlos, but also maybe not," Bottas mentioned. "At a certain point, I don't think everyone will wait for him. However, I'm still anticipating something."
When asked if he was surprised by the delay, Bottas responded, "That's a great question. To be frank, I was expecting everything to be resolved before this weekend since we had a break," he explained. "However, we still need to wait a little longer. I don't have a definite answer."
"Clearly, I'm reaching a stage where, ideally, sooner rather than later, as everyone is aware, if matters extend to the August recess or beyond, it can begin to be quite stressful."
Bottas is still considering staying with Sauber despite the team's apparent lack of enthusiasm to keep him.
The team currently known as Sauber, set to become Audi in 2026, has already secured Nico Hulkenberg's signature.
The German company has prioritized Sainz, and several other drivers have been associated with them in recent months.
When asked about Sauber, he responded, "Yes, I believe this possibility remains. It is certainly a component of the industry."
"Moreover, I desire to be in an environment where I am respected and where everyone understands the contributions I can make to the team."
Bottas and Sauber have had a tough season up to this point, not managing to earn any points in the first 12 races.
The Swiss team has made several enhancements to Bottas' vehicle for this weekend's race in Hungary.
