According to a report from the state-owned Shenzhen Special Zone Daily on Friday, Dongguan police apprehended a 44-year-old man named Zhong in 2015 for vandalizing public telecommunications infrastructure. He was subsequently released on bail.
The document stated that in 2019, he was placed under administrative detention for up to 15 days by the Shenzhen police for "creating false information to disturb public order."
According to the Shenzhen outlet, citing police sources, Zhong admitted to assaulting the boy on Wednesday.
