The Conservative Party has revealed changes to its team lineup, with ex-ministers and re-elected members of parliament stepping into roles as the opposition's shadow cabinet.
Lord Cameron has stepped down from his position on Rishi Sunak's leading team, where he previously served as foreign secretary prior to the Labour Party's win in the election last Thursday. His former deputy, Andrew Mitchell, has now taken over the shadow position.
On X, the ex-prime minister expressed that serving was "a great privilege," and noted that while in opposition, the Conservatives must monitor the new foreign secretary's actions from the Commons.
The member of the peerage stated: "As a dedicated Conservative, I remain supportive of the party and will assist in any way possible as we recover from the deeply unsatisfactory election outcome."

Additionally, despite narrowly retaining his position in the recent election, Richard Holden has resigned as the chairman of the Conservative Party, and Richard Fuller has stepped in as the temporary replacement.
In his resignation letter, Mr. Holden stated that a "comprehensive examination of the general election campaign" was necessary, but that it should be conducted "under the guidance of new leadership to ensure maximum clarity."
In his remarks, Mr. Fuller acknowledged that the election was challenging for the party, emphasizing the need to now "come together and consider the outcomes."
He stated, "We must honestly and thoroughly examine the strengths of the Conservative Party throughout the nation and identify areas where enhancements are necessary."

In the recent electoral sweep by the Labour Party, 175 Conservative MPs were unseated, among them 11 ministers, drastically reducing their representation to 121 members. In contrast, the new government now holds 412 seats.
The overwhelming defeat in the elections has positioned Mr. Sunak as the leader of the opposition, facing several vacancies to address in his senior team.
However, since the ex-prime minister has announced his decision to resign as the leader of the party once a new leader's election procedure is established, the duration of the current shadow cabinet remains uncertain.
