Trackhouse in Strategic Move to Revamp MotoGP Line-Up: Eyes on Mir, Rins, and Roberts for 2025 Season
Davide Brivio initiates discussions to overhaul Trackhouse's MotoGP team composition
"Discussions have commenced between the involved parties," indicating Trackhouse's interest in exploring options for new riders
Trackhouse is allegedly considering Joan Mir and Alex Rins for recruitment.
Team leader Davide Brivio is familiar with both riders due to their shared history at Suzuki.
According to Sky, Brivio has pinpointed Mir and Rins as key figures in Trackhouse's development, targeting them for the 2025 MotoGP roster.
"Motosprint has reported the commencement of discussions between Mir and Trackhouse."
Joe Roberts, who emerged as a standout in Moto2 this season, is also eyeing a spot at Trackhouse for the upcoming year.
For the recently renamed team based in the US, choosing Roberts as an American fits perfectly.
Trackhouse currently has Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez as their pair of riders.
Oliveira is aiming for an upgrade to the Aprilia team's primary factory squad, whereas Fernandez is striving to secure his spot in MotoGP.
Currently positioned 14th and 15th in the MotoGP rankings following the Le Mans Grand Prix, both riders are not performing at their peak this season.
Brivio has chosen Mir and Rins, two racers he has confidence in from previous experiences.
He secured the 2020 MotoGP title while racing for Suzuki alongside Mir.
Currently at Repsol Honda, Mir's experience has been extremely challenging. His agreement concludes when this season ends, and he has candidly discussed the possibility of departing.
This season saw Rins teaming up with Yamaha, with the brand aiming to widen its footprint by introducing a satellite team by 2025. This could potentially offer Rins an additional choice for the coming year.
However, the preferences of the Aprilia factory team will have priority over the ambitions of Trackhouse.
Aprilia is in a holding pattern, awaiting Aleix Espargaro's decision on whether he plans to retire, before they can proceed with selecting a successor, should the need arise.
Sky Italia has reported that Trackhouse is poised to align its actions with those of its parent company, Aprilia, and will make decisions based on Aprilia's guidance to ensure complete agreement.
